I finally finished writing a 4-part series of tutorials on creating sculpted prims! *whew* "Sculpties...its so easy, even a blonde can do it " No 3D experience is required (although previous SL building experience would be very helpful). The tutorials use the free Wings 3D as the main editing program, and also the cool (and free) ROKURO program. The last tutorial shows one way of texturing sculpties (based on discussions in the SL forums). Here are the links to all 4 parts: http://slnatalia.blogspot.com/2007/06/sculpted-prims-sculpties-second-life.htmlhttp://slnatalia.blogspot.com/2007/06/day-265-sculpted-prims-tutorial-part-2.htmlhttp://slnatalia.blogspot.com/2007/06/day-272-day-265-sculpted-prims-tutorial.htmlhttp://slnatalia.blogspot.com/2007/06/day-279-sculpted-prims-tutorial-part-4.htmlThere are also tutorials on creating prim shoes, skirts, hair, particles, jewelry, and clothes in the Build section: http://slnatalia.blogspot.com/2006/11/build.html

Natalia, I just wanted to let you know I think your blog by far surpasses any other tutorial resource on pretty much anything in SL. Safe for scripting, it seems you've covered more or less everything. I'm rather new to SL and I don't intend to start playing with sculpties just yet, but I've probably visited your blog every single day for the time I've been a resident. Thank you for a wonderful resource. PS. I'm trying to start an SL clothing business in due time... Let me know if you'd like some free samples, I figure it's only fair given how much I've learned reading your blog!

AWM, thanks for mentioning that! Linden Labs had mentioned that they were putting some sculpt maps in the Library...going now to check them out BTW, theres also a page in the SL Wiki: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Sharing_sculpt_maps_and_textures

From: Natalia Zelmanov MarquisDe, thank you Heehee scripting still scares me... Being a professional programmer I have to say it's not something you pick up as easily as many other skills. Programming requires a type of abstract thinking that is not a very intuitive thing for a human to do. Basically it's like giving instructions to a child, it all has to be concrete and explicit, broken into painstakingly simple steps. If you'd like to learn scripting sometime I'd recommend starting with something else than LSL. Scripting in Second Life is much harder than learning the concepts of programming within a simple environment. Alan Gauld's Learning to Program site could be a good place to start: http://www.freenetpages.co.uk/hp/alan.gauld/With the basic concepts of programming in your head learning the peculiarities of LSL should become a manageable task. But stuff like the LoopRez script would still be hard to decipher, due to all that pesky math involved... To be frank I would have a hard time with it, as my math is only average at best. Then again, I don't plan to do much scripting in SL as I do enough at work... From: Natalia Zelmanov Amunet, I totally agree with you on Blender! Its positively scary! Blender has a notoriously difficult user interface. There's just _so much_ of it all. While very powerful, learning Blender properly no doubt takes ages... I've only played with it so I can't really say, but force feeding yourself whatever is to be found behind the links on this page might help... http://www.blender.org/tutorials-help/
