Welcome, Vasudha Linden, and Stop the Land Glut! http://secondthoughts.typepad.com/second_thoughts/2006/02/welcome_vasudha.htmlStop the land glut that devalues our land! Don't kill premium account stipends, they are a proper and needed incentive for the very small percentage of players (probably 25-26,000 at most, or 20 percent), relative to the masses of 130,000 subscribers on basic(probably 80 percent basic), who include SL's top land barons and event organizers. They mainly *own land,* often *tier lots of it* and who *stay in the game for longer periods and buy more* and *create and mantain their own businesses of content and services*. Don't kill the working middle class! AFTER you've stopped the land glut, AFTER the Linden is stronger against the US dollar, THEN you can think about a phase-out.

Hmmmm... I tend to disagree. Stopping the land glut may help the people that have a business of buying and selling land, but I don't believe it will help SL in the long run. I've watched land in my sim sell for 1500 for a 512k plot since Dec. The only people buying this land (about 1/3 of the sim has turned over) are people that immediately raise the price on the land and then resell. (It did allow me to trade land around to get more of it that is connected I think we have gained maybe 2 new residents in the sim and quite a bit of the sim is still for sale but of course at much higher prices. Whats the purpose? About 2000 for a 512 is about right, not 4000 for 512. I put a piece of land up for sale for 1800 and its gone in under an hour. The same piece of land has traded hands 3 times since and now is going for 4000. Its laughable and a very false inflation of value. When I need more land for prims for a big build, why should I have to pay an outlandish price? Just so a land baron can make more money? Thats pretty selfish if you ask me. SL needs people that need (or want) to own land, not a 1000 people that are trying to duplicate the success of a few people. Everyone seems to think that buying and selling land is the only way to make money. There are other ways, and the earlier higher land costs pushed out a lot of people that just wanted to have fun. I think that LL should increase the faucet of land until everyone can have the land they want for a reasonable cost. May not help the economy so much but it could help LL get more continuing customers.
