So my raffle has been shot down. I play SL to escape the BS and stress I have in RL. Now I’m being questioned every time I turn around about my integrity and how my raffle is ran. It’s almost like everyone thinks their guaranteed to win. It’s a gamble. I’m an honest person that only had an idea for something people might enjoy. Boy was I wrong. This is my last week. I don’t need a game causing such grief and stress. So long all. It was real.

Ama and I get this all the time, even though I think we've built a rep for being fair... it happens to anyone making something that takes money with the chance of receiving something of value to them.

Best advice I can say is make a notecard listing how it works (the odds etc not the code) and either have the object give it out or give it to ppl who ask... if they keep bugging you just ignore them.

That kind of thing has happened to me also. It's unavoidable when you run any sort of gambling. I hope you don't leave.

I'm in no need to steal gambling code, I actually have more games right now than places to put them. That and I'm not really into weekly drawings kind of auctions or anything like that - I like instant wins. If you would like me to review your code and give an official Omega Games seal of approval I would be more than happy to. If you don't want, I completly understand that too.

maybe alll of the gambling type game owners should come up with a disclaimer of sorts that is relayed to the player? of course, even something as clear as that may not help.

awww.. Don't leave Skrull. I've gotten to know you a little and I really like hanging out from time to time. There will always be a few (in any online game) that go overboard and makes things not always so fun for others. Just ignore those people and remember that you have many others out there that like you and would not want you to leave for this reason.

After building and hanging out with friends, I'm feeling much better. I was a little angry this morning when I posted this. Thanks to all the cool people. All the rest of you bite me.

I too would encourage you to stay. Overcome the upset players, it will fade. Have Ama approve your game, it certainly won't do harm.

As others said, this is a common reaction to games that take money from you, and offer a *chance* to win more back. The payee expects to win, everytime. Some will drop in a buck, lose, and leave. Others will drop in tons, lose, and leave. Will they leave upset or not, dunno. But definitely some will, because they *expect* to win. When they lose, they blame the game/game designer. They don't blame the well-coded randomness. Nor do they praise well-coded randomness when they win.

Such is life with gambling devices. The only "good" gambling machine would be one that costs $1 to play and pays you back $1 99% of the time. Insuring that 99% of the customers leave semi-happy, perhaps mutter at how stupid the game is.

If people *seriously* feel cheated, I'm sure that they can have a linden examine the code.

I don't know you very well, Skrull, but all I can say is that you in fact still have a very good reputation and noone I know is trashing you. Some of the guests I have seen at the raffle and bingo events this last week were a little lacking in maturity, and that may well be root of your trouble, too. Candie had one very rude fellow publicly threatening to report her if he didn't win, so don't think it's just you.
While any game of chance - either in SL or RL - can be questioned as to its fairness and legitimacy, honest operators will survive and prosper, while the crooked ones will quickly get a bad rep and go under.
