Ooook, between all those serious threads today im gonna start a mundane one: What are your favourite single player games as of now, and why? Lessee mine, lately definately Gran Turismo 4 on the PS2... who wouldn't love to have 600+ dream cars in his garage? In addition to this definately Ace Combat 5, still on the PS2, probably one of the best stories in the videogame history, and the very best of the series, twisted to the right point, emotional to the right point (one of the few games that at some points made me cry so far) great action (if you like to fly anime-like action at least, flying a fighter jet trough a very long and narrow tunnel is NOT realistic, but still great and awesome graphics, a must have if you don't really really really despise that kind of games (in addition to this, for once it has a really well made english language dubbing, even if the choice of a couple voice actors is questionable, that makes for the best radio chatter ever heard, a rarity and for sure an added value).

Damn.. played so many over the years.. Favorite RPGs: 1. Xenogears. By far the best -- real characters, believable drama, epic story, thought-provoking. The battle system is more involved that traditional RPGs and breaks up the leveling monotony with the combo system. 2. Shining Force Saga. Typical fantasy storyline. Had great cut-scenes and unique little plot twists and gags. Also liked the "strategy" based RPG system. Fav Side Scroller: Sonic CD. Played it for hours and hours. Bonk was also really cool. Also, Metal Slug and the newest side scroller I've seen -- Alien Hominid. Fav RTS/Strategy: 1. Warcraft series: Every single one was excellent. I remember unwrapping the shareware disk of the original way back when and being blown away by it. 2. Dune II: The first RTS I can remember. Very basic, but I loved the Frank Herbert books so much that my friends and I spent a lot of time obsessing over this game. 3. Civilization 2: Nuff said. 4. Black & White. Fucking love this game. Love it. Fav Adventure Games: 1. The "Quest" games. They just rocked the casbah. Fav Flight Games: 1. Wing Commander Privateer: I'm playing the remake now. Man... this was teh best. Fav Action: 1. Quake 1 and 3. 2. Doom 3 3. Rainbow 6 Fav Shooters: 1. All the aba games. Torus Trooper rocks. I also love all the zelda and metroid games. And mario tennis. OOo.. and FF5. Garh.. I could go on. But I won't.

One of the main reasons i love the ace combat series for is because its basically the nearest to the wing commander philosophy, almost it-s japanese copy lol. Basically the same kind of epic action (even if faster), a breathtaking story and strong characters.. I would love to see a wing commander 5...

I also liked Baldur's Gate I weep for Looking Glass! Hehe, yes, I think the Thief series have to be my favorite games, ever. Half-Life. Yes. Half-Life 2 was... okay. Master of Magic was an old favorite, also (along with Civ2), Master of Orion 1&2... Elite, if you want to go old old school... Lately I've been addicted to Mooglewind... er, Morrowind. It's just so unfair to be a thief.

I like Deus Ex... that shiznit r0x0red my s0x0rs... in fact when I first heard about Tyrell in here, my gut reaction was like "Wow, that's cyberpunk like Deus Ex", so I have you Tyrellians in a way to blame for me being here. That and BBC's warm intro and meeting you cool peeps one by one (WHERE IS FLYK??? I wanna meet her :|). Anyhoo I really liked DX 'cuz it's cyberpunk and some of it conceivably *could* happen in our lifetimes, which is so utterly fascinating to me. I also like the deep, engaging storyline and well-developed characters. I really enjoyed the voice acting, esp. Tracer Tong -- shame I couldn't say the same about him in DX2. I used to play a number of classic Mac games. One of them is Sim City 2000, which our very own Robin Linden worked on a decade ago... can ya believe that? I also enjoyed other sim games, Sim Tower and Sim Earth come to mind. I liked Spectre VR because it was a very techy, polygonal tank shooter with WIKKID music (the CyberBach trax rocked in some lucidly liquid way) and because the whole gameplay style was downright addictive. Also a cyberpunk type of game, I just have a thing for those near-future scenarios. I also enjoyed Nintendo classics, Megaman's a big one. The beginning of the series, anyway, before it got really redundant and didn't add much new -- it was like incremental upgrades instead of quantum leaps, so I grew tired with that. I used to play some RPGs but I acclimated to simple shooters... Right now, I don't play any computer games. Unless you count Second Life.

Chrono Trigger, Goldeneye, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and Tetris You expected any differently? I think newer games are great, especially franchises like Polyphony's Gran Turismo and how every franchise is making its leap to 3D. I just feel that, at some point, the simple concepts as "racing" or "gameplay" become obfuscated in the constant pursuit of content. Gran Turismo, for example, was a "sure thing" for me when it first came out, but as 2 came out, and later, 3, I slowly lost interest as it was the same (single player) formula. This is, of course, my take on the matter only. I like novelty, simplicity, and depth. That's pretty much it.

From: Lianne Marten Final Fantasy X-2 (I LIKE dressing up pretty and kicking ass! What of it? ) I never understood why so many people bashed X-2 just because of that (technically it's been realized in an absolutely astounding way, by the way) exactly why pretty much the same people bash VIII because it's supposedly "too" romantic... Knights of the Old Republic I & II - Suprisingly good titles. My son insisted I play them and I found them really good, with deep storylines and lots of options.
Doom III - This figgen game stresses me out.
Vampire The Masquerade, Bloodlines - Some great levels in this game, and some challenging character types. Unfortunatly I'm stuck on one of the toughest big bosses and can't seem to get past her.
Max Payne II - Just an excellent game.

From: Jeffrey Gomez Castlevania: Symphony of the Night I can't believe I forgot this one! I loved this game, especially the music. One of the very few console games that I've ever actually wanted to play. Well, that, and the Bloody Roar series... sure, it wasn't perfect, but it was nicely fuzzy around the edges. I've spent far too much time in Neverwinter Nights, too. I guess I should include it as well.
