Here's a link to a neat chart showing numbers of mmo subscribers. The most recent update is JUL 03, so SL isn't there. Darn. But, look how Everquest is KILLIN.

Technicly SL isn't an MMO persey so I doubt it will be on there. Would be interisting to see some statistics on the virtual realitys though.
Interisting to view those, i dont play any of em, lol. _____________________

That depends on your definition of MMOG... I'd call SL one. (TSO is on the graph)
I don't know how accurate it is, but that's pretty cool. UO does better than I thought... I hate the game now, but since it was my first MMOG I'm kind of glad it's still doing well. As for LevelQuest, that's a stumper...really. Half a million people have issues if *that* keeps them entertained so well. Played Eve online for awhile, don't really care for that too much but I guess it's fun for some people. Sold my account on Ebay. lol "Motor City Online's" curve is rather humorus, what happened *there*? roflmao... WWIIOL is pretty much as flat-lined as I'd expect, no surprise there. It's not going down, but it's being supported by pretty much the same people all the way through. Dedicated user base? This is a cool link too, I don't know how accurate it is, but it's interesting. http://www.freewebs.com/nrakjar/maps.html The problem with a huge game world is that without enough players it'll just be empty...but since WWIIOL has a "front" where all the players are concentrated on, that's not a problem. _____________________

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS! |

Motor City Online was a mess... I left around January, and in February they announced the game was shutting down, and they finally closed it in august.
That game didn't have any support maybe 4 months after it's release, so the problems just got worse and worse... can you say inflation? LF _____________________

That's the first one of these games shutting down that I've heard of. MMOG's really need to start leeching off of EQ to prepare it for it's termination. I hate that annoying game.

Just for comparison, all of SecondLife would fit nicely in the white-shaded area of Ultima Online, with room to grow. _____________________

hehe.. I played EQ for 5 years with my hubby. Then I found SL and decided I would rather spend my time here and my hubby stopped playing EQ as well. After 5 years, it *really* was time to move on.

Hehe, I knew with almost half a million subscribers I'd be taking a big risk of offending someone here by stating that I dislike EQ.

after bulletin boards were supplanted by the web, i started playing graphical puzzle game series' such as zork, kyrandia, myst. then i bought a copy of asheron's call.
it's been fun, but after three years i'm tired of having to fight for everything. i'm really tired of having to use prefab graphics. linden has provided a solution to all those problems. thank you all very much. |
