Question for anyone in China: do you know a website with Chinese popmusic, in China?

I lurrrvvee Chinese pop music (I feel dead without it :-O ), but the cybercafe I use for SL doesnt have inhouse pop music, so was wondering if its possible to stream it from the web?

Any suggestions as to a suitable website?

Hi Azaldea,

Well, I'm not living in China, but there's streaming music for chinese pop for the local radio here

http://yes933.mediacorpradio.com/

The streaming is the button right underneath the word DJ

Not to hijack (hey the thread is almost gone anyway), but how does that work anyway? Do you have to find a link to some kind of 'streaming radio' thingy? Can you host your own server for this purpose? How do people do it?

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

Well, coupla years ago I tried playing with Shoutcast to broadcast live music to some friends. Am not sure if it works now since Winamp is not doing well.

http://www.shoutcast.com/support/docs/ is a place you might want to start garoad. Its free so far.

Not sure I actually would (well maybe on a parttime basis) but that is a cool option.. wonder how much bandwidth it'd suck up...

Yes, unfortunately the site needs to be physically within China, otherwise the bandwidth sucks.

Ok, I figured it out in the end :-) The hardest bit was learning the name of the artist.

So here is the link I came up with:

http://www.91f.net/musiclist/2440.htm (And the index is at http://www.91f.net/2_art.htm)

You can click on the box next to 11 for example, then the highlighted button 3rd from the right, at the bottom. (播放 bo fang "broadcast";) (though bandwidth will suck from outside of PRC)
