Been reading alot in here about Hubs. How about weekly votes fav and less fav hubs. I will put up 5 pics a week with similar locations. Starting with the mainland commercial hubs for this weeks category.

Feel free to add your comments on why you like or dont like a hub from the five.

Ill start: For me, when i first started playing SL, the telehubs scared me. All that stuff jammed right up to the hub was overwhelming. I was trying to find my way around and learn how to explore and felt overpowered by all the stores. I never did make any purchases from a store jammed up by a telehub when i first started playing, and probably never will. I like a telehub that I can feel i have some elbow room to move and look around.

On the other hand, my partner, did not have the same overwhelming feeling. He moved around freely while I stood there like a scared kitten. He immediately spent his money on "neat" things he saw, and I saved my money.

So with those opinions, in this first group of hubs, my #1 pic is Ambant. I can easilly move around and find shops and not feel closed in. The #5 is Nuba - it scares me.

No real favorites. Except maybe the Waterhead welcome area (do I really need a notecard EVERY TIME I LAND?)

My Least favorite hub is whichever one I land and get stuck in the freaking hub itself. (Can we please make the upper parts of the hug phantom objects or something?))

My least fav telehub is all of them.

I think I've only stuck around to let them rez once or twice, and it's usually because I'm IMing or doing something else right after I land.

Otherwise I just fly as high as I can to avoid unrezzed buildings (now that we can't fly through them) and just go.

Its like landing in a browser pop-up ad. :)

I do the same as Nate. As soon as I land at a hub I fly way up and over. Apparently hub land is expensive and peope buy it to sell their items. It's a waste of money as far as I'm concerned. If I am teleporting then i am going somewhere specific and do not hang around hubs.

Have you ever heard of this strange new technology called "JPEG"? I hear rumors that it can take an image that would normally be around, say, 1.3 megabytes, and compress it with good quality down to, oh, 40 kilobytes.

Why doesn't LL just auto-compress textures into their own little native format? Seriously.

As for hubs, they're nice, but I still want direct-teleport options for landmarks.

I dunno what my least favorites would be, I honestly avoid using telehubs and don't travel around as much.

However my two favorites have to be Waterhead (greatest telehub ever built in SL) for its peacefullness, general appearence, awsome duck game, beautifull scenery... and Welcome Area/Ahern(or Plum, whichever), because despite being old its still nice looking, fun to hang out around (alot of traffic), nice scenery, some fun games, and good setup.

Funnily enough neither of those are your typical Telehubs, I think this fact is important. If there were more telehubs that were themed like Waterhead was that had a nice surrounding area and atmosphere, I'd be more inclined to visit them. I've noticed there are a few telehubs that are textured a bit differently or have snow etc on them, thats a good start!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think a good thing to look at is Disney World and its hotels, the hotels *become* attractions themselves, you go to check out each one and see what they look like because they're all themed differently and look fantastic.

Sure it takes time, but it pays off. Probably not every telehub should be extravagant but a few here and there would be awsome.

Oh, and I still want the ability to teleport directly to a destination without a telehub. Despite my love for Waterhead, I go there when I want to and only stick around when I want to, its more of a place for me to go than something I want to use when I have to.

My least favorite one is in the city, simply because it has a roof. When you try to fly somewhere, you have to bump against it.

The roof at waterhead is okay because it's a wonderful and useful structure.

I agree Hank, As we have a store in Grignano Garth and I have taken to porting to Luna and flying over, it is much easier on the nerves and you don't get tangled in the overhead wires for the trolley system.

Ah yes, while different structual shape is nice, I never got the design of that style, we don't have rain in SL (not yet), so my only thinking is to encourage using your feet... or just didn't think of the hitting your head.
