Get a D-Link! They're nicer. At least, replacing my Linksys with a D-Link got rid of my 'multiple-computers-on-our-network-can't-connect-to-SL-at-the-same-time' problem. I think you can also work around that by allocating specific ports between the various computers. Of course, if you're going to be the only one ever connecting through the Linky, then just ignore me. I know I do...

Absolutly D-Link is the way to go. It is an awsome router and has never given me one lick of trouble. Can't go wrong with the D. Hope this helps..........

From: Lecktor Hannibal Ok I know there are some savvy folks out there. I have cable broadband. Wanting to put in a router. Getting a linksys cable/dsl router. What headache is ahead of me ? The headache is that it's a Linksys. Get a D-Link. Linksys used to be the best in the industry.... they aren't anymore. Their current hardware is crap. You'll have problem after problem after problem, especially if you go wireless. (I did.) Aside from that, you should be fine. Modern windows systems tend to hook up just fine.

Do not buy a Linksys - go with D-Link or Netgear, they are higher quality. I have owned several Linksys wireless routers, and will never buy any of their products again. I replaced it with a Netgear router, and haven't had a problem since.

Not D-Link, and not Linksys.
I've had hell on earth with some of the D-Link routers and packet forwarding and DNS caching (like they choose to lock up completely, requiring a hard-reboot every other week.)

I have an old D-Link router. Never gave me a day of trouble in over 3 years.
