i do not understand why estate owners that have "deeded" their island to a group are not allowed to offset their monthly fee with group members' land allocation. ll recieves the money either way. in fact, they would make more money from several people paying teir fees than they would from the owner paying $195 a month.

e.g. if the group had five members, including the owner, with four people paying $40 a month for 8704sm each all donated to the group for a total of 34,816sm. the owner would still owe for 30,720sm so ll would charge them $125 for a total income of $285. granted this seems foolish, but it would allow people to use the existing code to offer inworld support without having to transfer money via real life connections.

thank you thank you thank you robin for activating this feature for us.

Well as I see it, it is analogus to renting an apartment to 4 single people. Some one has to be responsible for the monthly rent.

The Estate sim owners cannot use their own personal land allocations to defray the cost of said sim either. I mean that I am a lifer and as such am entitled to 4096 m2 without monthly fees, but that cannot be set against the Estate fees.

As we have all seen in SL people come and go on a whim. One person has to be responsible for the monthly fees. And to my knowledge there are no Estates "deeded" to a group. The Estate sims are set as "group enabled" which gives the officers the same basic rights as deeding (with a few exceptions).

i should've clarified that point better. the person that purchases the estate will remain solely responsible for the monthly fee. i'm not proposing that they be allowed to deed away their responsibility. only that they be allowed to assign the estate to a group so that any allocation donated to that group automatically offsets their monthly fee to the relevant tier amount they would pay for the remaining, unallocated land.

if someone dropped out of the group, or even just removed their allocation, rather than loose land as a mainland group does, the owner would inherit a greater fee for that billing period.
