Millennium Sim Party?

I have an idea.

I've had it for awhile now but I wanted to share it publically.

Second Life is growing and growing, with 500+ sims strong.

How about a big PARTAY when we get to #1000? It seems like a good symbolic milestone, both progresswise and otherwise, and would certainly be a way of celebrating Second Life.

Wouldn't that totally, like, kick prim-arse? :D

Sounds good to me.

Then again, there's the linden sim (sims?), so how will we know? :P

Oh, I think we could know because Lindens -- or certain residents keeping a close-eyed tally -- would know. Not unlike the recent Winter Festival, I speculate such an event would be Linden-coordinated with active participation from the community. :)

millenium sim party? Sounds good to me :)

How about making an international event and announce like, "its now a new day in japan, and then some time later, its a new day in singapore, then Australia just reached midnight"

something something :)

Quite easily.

LL uses a numbering scheme for their sims with the DNS records:
simXYZ.agni.lindenlab.com - Where XYZ = 0 to 568 (at the moment), doing a quick port probe on the SL server ports can tell you if the sim is infact active.

Of course, it would probably be better to use public sims as the counter. ;)
