Ok, Cures for fluey/coldy bug please...

Ok, here's the crack, I feel like im slowly withering away..

My eyes are burning
My nose is sore and blocked
I can't breath properly
I keep sneezing, coughing
I sound so bunged up I sound more retarded than usual.

BUT... I don't like taking medicine, I can't really swallow pills, it makes me heave, and my throat is all thick so I ain't even trying that, I have been drinking hot lemon drinks, what else do you guys suggest....

Actually that IS a good cure, it WOULD take my mind off it, but *sigh* unless you wanna do me over my desk not alot we can do

Seriously though...

1 large shot of whisky or vodka
1 spoon honey or brown sugar
1 pinch nutmeg
top up with boiling water

drink in bed, sleep...

That does work sio.. its my cure when i dont have to work.

I've always found that eating extra spicy stuff will not only make my eyes water and my tongue burn, it will also unclog the crap out of my nose. So go to an indian restaurant or something.
Sex is also pretty damn good for it. I imagine any sort of exercise would do the trick.
Also, if I'm having trouble speaking, downing a large amount of coke really fast (or any other carbonated beverage, probably) will miraculously clear my throat for a while.

When I had the same bug I reached the point where I was coughing so much it was actually preventing me from typing.

I poured myself a very large absinthe, and found that not only did it make me feel a lot better, it stopped the coughing as well!

Oh Dear - I hope it wasn't me who gave you the cold I had last week.

Anyhow, this helped:

Water
Wiskey
Theraflu Packet or 2 Asprin Disolved in water and wiskey
2 TBLS Lemon Juice
1 Eucalyptus leaf if you have it

Heat it until it's boiling and remove leaf and drink.

Weird but it works.

Orange Juice and lots of it. It cures almost everything.

Willow - Zicam, hands down, is the best thing I've ever taken for cold/flu. It's recommended that you begin using it at the first signs of cold or flu, but it works wonders even when begun later in the course of the illness.

I use the oral spray, but there is also a nasal gel. The gel kinda burns, but it actually works a little better, IMO.

Other than that, vitamin C (preferably Ester C), garlic supplements, and any other supplements to support immune health will do ya a world of good.

Aww Willow I sympathize with you, I'm having the same symptoms right now. I went to the store to do some shopping and get meds and they pulled all the cold meds off the shelf cuz people are using them to make meth or some shi# and since I'm sick I forgot to ask at the counter after I was done with my shopping. All I have here is a eucalyptus rub but it's helping a lot. I'm making sure I breathe it in and it clears my nose and gets rid of the cough, was the only way I could sleep last night. For my sore nose I'm using vaseline or lip balm. Feel better

Ibuprophin (Advil, for example) helps me. Thechnically it's "only" a pain releiver but I swear it shortens any cold I get.

Another thing -- Get some Zinc lozenges. They will soothe your throat, and the zinc coats the lining of your throat, helping to prevent the virus from penetrating the tissues.

When I get THAT sick death seems attractive. AND it WILL remove those pesky symptoms.
