We took a little break, but we're coming back strong. If you'd like to become a part of the library, or want some additional information about it, get ahold of me. There's something for everyone. :)

I'll be holding an event on Tuesday to talk about the library. You can read a little about it here: /invalid_link.html

I'm curious as to what the stack of the SL library contains. Is it all just Gutenberg-style, public-domain etext? Or are these the creative works of residents?

what's your policy on branch libraries? I'm seriously liking this. Anyway I can help? I have a house/build in sami that would work for a sort of library if you are interested in branches. I can also script and build if you need something like that.

The library will contain resident-produced, SL-related literature. The library is a resource that residents can use to find information about anything in Second Life. There will be tutorials explaining the user interface, building, texturing, scripting, etc. It won't be a *repository* for scripts, textures, etc, but rather a repository for *literature.*

The library will also place a lot of emphasis on SL's culture and history. For example, if someone wanted to know something about the Americana theme build, he could come to the library and do a catalog search for "Americana." He might find an objective article about who created Americana and what you could find there. And he might also find an article about how the development of Second Life's economy has affected the residents. He might learn about how the introduction of land-use fees brought down many theme builds within Second Life, and what kind of emotional effect it had on residents. That sort of thing. ^_^

It's going to be difficult enough to support one library. If, in a year's time, I am sitting where I want to be with this library, I'll talk to you about the possibility of a branch. ;) The only reason I can think of to have one is if this one can no longer support the traffic there. It'll probably be awhile before we have use for another library branch.

However! If you're interested in this project, I am trying to involve as many people as I can. There is something for everyone to do! You don't have to be a veteran resident to help. Get with me in-world, and I'll find something for you. :)
