How many of you have gotten the message someone on your calling card list has accepted inventory from you and you have not given it to them or often than not there is no name. how many of you have had things from your inventory missing? i have had all of the above and have reported it as a bug. i have never given out my password to anyone. i wrote on the LInden hotline so we will see if they do anytig about it. it may be a bug who knows but it is happening and so far the Lindens have not said they are doing anyting bout all the bug reports i have left on it.

Yes the Lindens log on and steal your socks - only one mind you.
It is well known that Phillip Linden has a collection of thousands of socks on a hidden private sim. |

I don't think I've ever gotten the "accepted your inventory" message when I haven't sent something. Keep in mind that you might get it days later if they don't log in until then. I do sometimes get them without a name though. That's a bug. There's no way for your items to leave your inventory and go to someone else's unless you specifically give the item to someone either directly or by dropping it on their profile or calling card.

I have seen that a few times. I dont give a lot of offline stuff away, I usually try to do it in person. But, a few months ago, I did give a lot of group members a gift I made. Every once in awhile I see this message about no one accepting my inventory item and I am guessing, only guessing, that it is that same gift being accepted by an account that has closed. The account went dormant and finally Lindens shut it down and the gift I gave them cleared the queue for being accepted. Thats just my guess though, its not based on any real information.

I've noticed similar behavior.
At 3/2/2005 11:27am EST, I received the following IM: " has accepted your inventory offer in Second Life." Hope it helps! Travis |

I haven't gotten this message, but I did send a friend a gift and didn't get any message about it being accepted or declined. She has logged in already, but I haven't asked if she got any messages from me. It might be a bug and if LL hasn't tried fixing it yet, it might be because they plan to fix it for version 1.6.

Whenever I've gotten the no name message I always knew who it was. The message just didn't properly have the name. I've never gotten a "so and so accepted" message when I hadn't actually sent something to someone.

Same thing happens to me. I find it tends to happen after a prolonged delay, i.e. I give an item to someone when they are offline but they come back on at a later date and accept it, or something like that. Does it happen more with some sorts of items? I seem to recall a time when I sent a bunch of pictures out and got several of those "no name received" messages.

The last time it happened to me it was a snapshot that I'd sent to someone. They accepted it about 24 hours after I sent it. _____________________

Okay Chip, if we can keep testing this we will be closer to reproducing this bug.
One thing I've thought of is, you know how someone can reply from their email to inworld if a message sent offline is still "fresh" enough? Well, what happens if the thread "decays" and is no longer active but the other party hasn't come in to accept the item into their inventory yet? If they come afterwards the convo goes dead, could that be why it shows a blank receiver? Hmmm._____________________

I think that's the most likely explanation... that it's time related. If the item is accepted too long after it was sent then the notice might not have the name on it. Just a guess though
The next time it happens to me I'll try to make a note of the circumstances._____________________

I had a little test of this phenomenon, and I agree with Torley. I gave a friend's alt av some items, plus some others to their main av.
The main av is on line a lot and picked them up the next day, normal named message to say so. The alt av did not come to SL for a few days, then picked up the items, and I received the no name messages. My friends let me know exactly when they had gone online as their alt, and the details correlated enought to lead me to believe that Torley's threory is correct. |

LOL! So that's where my other toe'd sock went? She said it was bugs, so I assumed it was your ants. Or a volcano, or something... ![]() _____________________

This has not happened to me that I'm aware of, but then again, I give so much stuff that if it did, I probably wouldn't think it was odd. However, the no name has not happened.
Stuff missing from inventory has happened, but that's because i misplaced it and found it weeks later, lol. MJ ![]() _____________________
