Are there any plans by anyone, or has anyone recreated, say, Brit or Yew or a well known town from UO, in SecondLife? That'd be a cool thing to see lol. Get all the textures matching perfectly and there's no limit to how accurate you can make it look. Hope this gets somewhere

Ah, Ultima Online, the memories.. ...going outside of town and being hacked to death by "reds"... ...locking newbies into your cabin and hacking them to bits, taking their stuff and putting their head in a treasure chest... Mining for hours on end listening to Shoutcast stations... The infamous "land rushes"... You thought SL's land rushes were something? Ha! Imagine the entire population of SL trying to put down houses at once on an island smaller than a Sim. So fun LF

Britannia and Yew actually date back to the original Ultimas. I remember seeing them in Ultima 2.
I tried UO once... wasn't highly impressed. But the original Ultimas (1-5) were awesome.
I can still draw from memory the maps of Brittania and Yew from Ultimas 3 and 4. Yes, I had no life back then.
Interesting idea on re-creation. Since the towns up through Ultima 5 were square... this could work with a sim.

I played in the UO Beta and LOVED it.. Then I played the retail and hated it very soon after because of all the people exploiting bugs. I would love another Ultima game though, Single player that is. I played them all. I do have to say they were way better before the 3d craze and it wqas made a 3d game. Ultima 3 was the best one Is Richard Garriot still in the industry? Any new games coming? I think he dumped Ultimas

*giggle* I think my favorite memory of my (very short) UO career was, as an utter n00b, luring a homicidal high-level player into a glitched area outside of town that was still considered 'in town', then calling down the guards on his stupid head, and looting his corpse clean as his ghost watched in foul-mouthed frustration. Then the idiot came after me again, and I did exactly the same thing to him again, in exactly the same place. Some people just don't learn. I was having a very good night, that night.

I got an email from EA to log back in UO for free till nov 29th I played it for almost 5 years and loved it, specialy the decorating. I was very happy with AoS wich made houses customizable, but as someone said before, those kewl dudes, the exploits, the scamming and the 0 customerservice drove me to other virtual worlds.

Hehe, well, are we going for 1:1 UO experience in SL? Well, you gotta make sure its really laggy when you got hordes of monsters on the screen, so everything can come to a halt, and then resume with you dead Hehe, hmm, Spittoonie would be perfect for that

I thought Vas ort flam was a better word, I played on Siege for quite a while and it must have been the most popular pre-cast of them all. UO was a great game but EA got greedy and it really isnt anymore

Corp Por!I remember that being a common spell chant of the attacking PK tank-mages. UO was an incredible game in its heyday - despite the lag troubles, PK problems, and outdated graphics. I still think that no MMORPG to date has matched the level of depth and detail it had.

Star Wars Galaxies is twice as detailed.. but it's not really my thing, however, the new expansion pack is and it's quite fun so far.

Yes the normal procedure was Vas ort flam(explosion - normally pre cast off screen), In nox(poison), Corp por(energy bolt), explosion was normally the first because it had a delay between casting it on someone and it actually happening, by the time it happened they would be poisoned also and unable to heal, at which point they panic and switch from a heal to a cure(and probably fizzle it) giving you ample time to cast and use the ebolt.
I remember the first time I saw a red, was in ice dungeon, I just sat there frozen as he took the customary few seconds to size me up and then killed me, those situations are the only time in a computer game Ive ever actually been scared, it took this to happen a few times before I fought back, and a few more times for me to simply attack them as soon as they appeared(about the only way you will ever win).
I can see why Trammel was popular, people really dont like being PKed, they tried stuff to make it popular like insuring your property but they missed the point - people dont like getting PKed simply because it was a bit too "real", many a time Id be hunting as a tamer or bard knowing I am at least 2 skills down on the dedicated PvP char(s) I could be facing at any moment....
The red name appears off screen(or 2 or 3 red names if playing in Fel on a production shard), a brief moment of panic, you try to defend yourself but are normally quickly overwhelmed, you run off to get rezzed.
I have to say though, there is nothing like the great feeling and the relief of killing one, I could count on the fingers of one hand the times it happened.
