estate poll

i have this idea that more people might purchase estate sims for group projects if other members' group allocation could offset the monthly fee. i'm thinking that the offset would have to be in even tiers.

e.g. i own an estate and owe $195 a month for it. if the land is group deeded, and the members have allocated 32,768sm, i would pay the half-sim tier fee of $125 that month. if at any time during the billing period, the group contribution fell below 32,768sm, my fee would revert to the full sim.

e.g. i own an estate deeded to a group that has a total contribution of 49,152sm. i would only have to pay the quarter-sim tier fee of $75. again, if the contribution fell to say 40,000sm during the month, i would owe the next (half-sim tier) fee of $125 the next billing cycle.

i don't see how ll can loose with this arrangement. tier fee is tier fee. the owner is committed to make up the difference, per tier, each month. this simply allows people to support the island through the interface rather than having to paypal cash to each other.

i built a livejournal poll to provide input for the lindens. please take a moment to answer it. if you think about it, share the url with your friends inworld as well. all input is appreciated.

I had to say no to your first question, because I can't see paying $1000 for a P4 machine anymore. I built a kick-ass P4 last year for about $1000-$1200. The cost of a machine to run a sim isn't worth $1000. If they charged $500, then we'd talk.

Hey Khamon, great idea!

Any left over tier should be donated to your group.

Really hope LL considers this one..

US $1000 for free server upgrades when (not if, when) they upgrade their servers?

And the license to run the server software, including a full physics simulation and programming environment?

And unlimited bandwidth?

And 24/7 tech support and phenomenal uptime?

You're right, it's a total ripoff. $20 or bust!

Ah, no... you need an in-game job to afford playing this game!

There might be a market for custom flying saucers.... talk to Siro Mfume.

ah ha i harken back to the assurances that most people would end up paying less than the standard $14.95/month fee when 1.2 tiers debuted. you can find them in the archives just before the dozens of confessions, people actually posted "i must confess," of $40, $75 and higher tier approvals.

this all has nothing to do with the poll though. there are five respondants so far. make your vote count. respond today!
