The Case of a Place Called Midnight, aired November 12, 1964 has some German guys scamming some rich people by claiming there was Nazi fortune buried at the bottom of a lake. In order to get it out of Germany, the rich people need to give up some money to help get the treasure out of the country.
Does it sound familiar? I wonder if some Nigerian was watching the episode and came up with the idea to use the Internet! LOL!

"The Nigerian Scam has been emptying the pockets of victims for decades — first through letters, then with faxes, and now via e-mail. In its earliest incarnation — which dates to the 1920s — it was known as 'The Spanish Prisoner' con." - http://www.snopes.com/crime/fraud/nigeria.aspI'm not sure why Snopes only dates it back to the 20s, because this type of con's been around a lot longer than that, usually known as the Gypsy Switch.
