Roleplaying?

This may not be the best place to post this, but I was curious as to the interest in this. I'm fairly new, and I've been looking for people who might be interested in doing some roleplay. What I mean by roleplay isn't anything but characters acting out a situation. I did a search and found a group that seems like they would be interested, but it doesn't seem like any of them are active or ever online for that matter. Is anyone interested in doing any roleplaying or does anyone know of any groups that already have some roleplay going?

Thanks!

Acting out what type of situations?

Owl Patel walks into a room, and takes out a bow and arrow. He shoots it at random people. He casts Magic Block Level 6. He walks into room A9,C15. He shoots some more people, and then an elf comes out of the sky, and kicks his ass.

If you mean D&D or MU* style roleplaying, I know there's a Dungeons and Dragons group around somewhere that holds games every now and then.

If that's not what you mean, ignore me. :o

No, definitely not D&D style roleplaying. I mean actual acting out situations. It'd probably be a little difficult and mostly would be social interaction, but basically the stuff you'd do on a MU*, only with graphics and some text instead of just all text.

Where are the Cheetos!!?? :D

Sorry, couldn't resist. Or... well, I could have, but didn't. :)

I'm pretty sure Mirae doesn't mean AD&D-style roleplaying, but rather just social-interaction roleplay, where one gets into a character they've created, and plays on from there. I've oddly enough seen very little of that in SL, myself... but I don't get out much. :o

Yeah, what Cross said. That's the type of thing I'm looking for, and even though I haven't been here long I thought that there'd be more of it. Either way, if there isn't a pre-existing group, would anyone be interested in starting one with me? I'd love to see how roleplaying can be done on Second Life, as it promises to be a lot of fun.

Interesting thoughts, Mirae.

I'm only a little older than you, and one of the things I've found surprising about SL is the near-universal use of a "puppeteer" perspective by its players.

The Grid seems to lack folks who come all the way into the virtual world and shut the door behind them. Conversation everywhere I've been tends to be a mixture of the two perspectives. It's like listening to kids who grew up in multi-lingual households veer effortlessly between languages in their personal chat. There's nothing wrong with that; I've met some interesting folks that way. But I think what you're after is a fully immersive way of playing.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. But one way or another, I'd like to hear more of your thoughts on what you're after.

Oh, I completely agree. However I think that it'd be fun to have a completely in character scenario, and people who would get together and do such. That's why I'm thinking a group would be a good idea.

I've been waiting for a good RPing group for a while... gah, I can't do the search now, but probably my first post in SL was about RPing, and periodically I bring it up to see if people are interested. Rarely are there voices who are for it. So if you get something together, congrats! Also, run a search in the forums on role playing/RP sometime, there have been some neat ideas on it (I have a text document on an idea involving RPing, but it's on another computer which I won't have access to for a week or so.)

Just a post to try and get people interested in this again. From what I've seen, any roleplaying groups that do exist are not active or are factioned off (for example, there are a lot of elves who seem to roleplay, as well as vampires, ect.). Is anyone interested in starting a group of this sort or am I still alone in this as a concept in SL.
