Ok, first of all, I'm not trying to rush to LL's defence here, but you guys are WAY to jumpy right now. Do you think LL WANT Second Life to fail? Do you think they WANT to loose all their hard work? Damn, of course they don't. They aren't doing it to displeasure you guys, they're trying to make the world better. They JUST released the information, and already over 10 people have decided they're going to quit if the changes go through. THEY AREN'T EVEN GOING TO SEE HOW THEY WORK OUT. Guys, paitence! If it doesn't work, it doesn't work, and we go back to what we originally had. QUITTING ISN'T HELPING ANYONE. Just calm down, give the Lindens a farking CHANCE. Seriously guys, this may be a good thing. Some aspects of it may be bad, I agree more than fully on that, but that doesn't mean inheritent opposition to the whole batch of ideas. Take your ritalin, guys.

I'm all for patience.
I want to wait and see as well.
Although, this does cause some initial shock. I understand some people's concerns.
Some of us, weren't graced with a warning period and a pesky NDA. **cough cough - I'm looking at you Darwin**
Give people a chance to mull it over. I just spent four hours in the welcome area, talking to SL'ers and the Lindens (I have a transcript if you want), and people tended to go from confused outrage, to confusion, to "hey, let's see".
Probably the natural progression.

Tell me about it Darwin. The majority's gut reaction is what puzzles me the most...but it's nothing I wouldn't expect, either. It's amusing to watch people panic shouting doom and gloom eh?

Its a typical US or even general human nature I guess. The masses are afraid of change. *shrug* To me its a game, I can see where non-lifers may get bent out of shape, and where the land hoarders and rich in SL can get upset, (I am one on the LB for $, but am not bothered by this). I'm generally an impatient person, but see no need to rush LL's neck to the chopping block just yet.

And in all actuality, it appears that people's major concern is that this will turn into a RL economic world, where money is object numero uno. You can buy your way into power. But really, you can't. A lot of people don't realize that you still need the Lindenbucks to purchase your land, outside of the RL money. And that still doesn't mean that a person would be able to do anything spectacular with that land either. Creativity and Being nice run this world, not the almighty dollar. I think the changes are going to work just fine, and they're not going to be as horrible as most people seem to think.

You won't need L$ to purchase land. They said some land auctions will be for L and some for RL$. So people will be able to buy their way in and circumvent having to earn their resources through in world contribution.

The lindens wouldn't make these kind of changes if they don't think it'll fail.
