GOM ATM delays

Apparently the ATMs are very delayed again, but I can't seem to sign in to check. Anyone else having problems getting in?

I didn't see another announcement about LL mail servers being broken again, but I think they are.

I've been logging in and out very well today Zeppi using the Mac client.

I noticed that email seems to have been delayed over the whole weekend (not hours like before, but a couple of minutes)... Hopefully that will get fixed/upgraded....

Hey Mike... easy there bud. I mentioned the Mac just as an FYI from a troubleshooting standpoint. I didn't know whether Zeppi used Windows or Mac, or if that even made any difference. The Mac client is still in beta and I'm always curious as to whether there is any difference in how the Second Life service processes info from/to the Mac client as opposed to the Windows client. No worries.

I am unable to make GOM deposits. Here's the response I get when I pay an ATM:

GOMLinkCommandHandler: Contacting server...
GOMLinkCommandHandler: There has been no response from the server. Please try again or contact customer support.
GOMLinkCommandHandler: Your deposit will be returned to you.

That's an indication that emails outbound from the grid are being delayed for some reason.

Apparently some others are having trouble logging in, so there seems to be some sort of global strangeness going on...

I've had occasional problems today with Email, but I've only tried it twice.

Gotta love the multithreading b0rkedness of it all. Hey, LL? Wanna think about implimenting XML-RPC sometime? You've been promising it for... what... six months now?

I made a deposit today. It took about 30 seconds after "Contacting server..." but it finally went through and was credited to my account.

Yup, it worked for me this morning. Whatever was wrong last night, seems to be fixed now.

Dunno about in the last day or so, but a deposit I made Sunday night took about two minutes for the ATM to respond. And my own scripts that use email are also responding gosh-awful slow.

Considering how widespread it is becoming that people are depending on the email system within SL for communication with the outside world, I think it's time they really worked out the slowness issue, or put in a more reliable method than email.

1. Sal is one of the coolest people I know.
2. Macintosh now have a /lot/ of apps for them, many more since OSX adopted a BSD backend.
3. He also owns a PC, but was confirming something for Zeppi, he was trying to be kind, ponder being kind yourself, you'll avoid a lot of future problems.

Who's a mac person? PC and proud of it, thank you very much. Doesn't mean I have some insane phobia of the word "mac"...

I wouldn't want to see this thread get off topic. There are some good concerns posted here about the current state of the GOM ATMs and the pros & cons of using email for conducting transactions through them. Now... talk amongst yourselves!

I have actually been working to increase the efficiency of my heightmap scanners (which have in the past been very e-mail intensive) to make the work a bit less active, and more productive (it used to start from 0,0, working on the system to solve that) and I will be pacing the messages as well as making the generation more compressed. This process, will help the e-mail server a bit once I actually get it off the ground, had I had XML-RPC outbound I could have done the whole thing in that, as it currently stands, I'm working on the modules to handle it, working on the functional code for the data parser before I add the XML wrapper though.
