no new sounds with gestures

I have tried to use new sounds with gestures and cannot get them to work. I've spoken with a few helpers and no one seems to know what is wrong. I use the ctrl-g menu and despite where I put the sounds I wish to play, (they are mod/copy) I cannot get the sound to show in the pull down menu. I understand the gesture system is new so is my problem not with what I am doing/not doing, but with the sytem itself? I read some past thread regarding gestures but they don't help to clarify anything for me. Thank you for any input on this.

If the sound is No Copy or No Modify (or maybe even No Transfer) it will not show up in the drop down list. I don't know why, I just figured this out a while back when I was disappointed I couldn't use a specific sound. You seem to need full permissions to use a sound in a gesture.

Yes, that must be it. It looks like I won't be able to use any purchased sounds for gestures. I hope they'll give us more freedom with what sounds we can use.
