OKay, so it's monday... tomorrow is tax day.
Normally, my stipend is 2400-2500 a week, with about a 1100 tax. It covers everything, I'm happy, etc.
So, I got around to looking at my estimated tax cost... ----------- Balance $ 13107
Credits 9905 Debits -11953 Total Change -2048
Estimated Current Object Tax 617 419 Light Tax 15 38 Land Tax 900 1184 Group Tax 0 0 Parcel Directory Fee 0 0 Total Tax 1532 1641
Estimated Base Stipend 1000 Estimated Bonus 151 Total Stipend 1151
-----------
So, if I'm reading this right, I'll be losing 500 dollars tomorrow.
Uh, why? I've actually been getting more positive ratings than ever lately (due to me socializing rather than building)... I don't even have anything in-world except a prefab house I'm working on.
So, prior to 1.1, I could build up to three things at once and still have it covered by my stipend. Now, I have barely one build, and I'm in the negative?
And what happened to my stipend? Why was it reduced by like 60%?
Explain, please.
LF

Weird. My bonus is the exact same as it was the last friday before v1.1. Hasn't changed at all, even with new ratings. I think we'll see how everything works tomorrow.

If this is a bug, then I'm pretty ticked. I spent many hours building something in Natoma (anyone see the Natoma Henge while it was there?). Based on my Account History, it looked like I'd lose over 1000 a week if I kept it. So I had to delete the whole thing (it wouldn't let me link it: "too far apart" . All that time wasted!! I thought that there was a weekly stipend to help cover taxes, up to a certain point. Is that gone? Are taxes suddenly higher? Is the bonus reduced? Am I asking too many questions? Should I cut back my caffeine intake? thoughts, anyone?

If everything is cut that much, what's the point of anything in SL?? I mean I'm new, haven't built up anything, so how will I get more than $1000 or so. Means I'd have to slowly build, but if no one 'dwells' then 'pffftt' money is gone. I like to at least have the ability to try to build things that are a bit more complex than a cube with textures and a small script. Everyone should get the $3500, take taxes out, add stipend.

I think stipends and taxes will happen tomorrow (tuesday). It used to be that taxes were assessed just once a week but that allowed people to sell off land and put objects in inventory right before the assessor ran, effectively managing not to pay for the resources they were using. Now taxes are assessed daily and your tax ends up being the average, and instead of everyone having different tax days, all taxes and stipends will now happen on tuesdays. If you don't get a stipend by wednesday, then worry. But right now I think it's as it should be.

Mearl did you partake in the beta of 1.1 to help find these bugs?
Account history is weird for this reason: There are two systems, one that calculates your account history sheet and one that actually evaluates your taxes. They work in compliment of each other. The one that creates the account history, as I understand it, assumes certain things - that your tax day will happen when it should, that taxes will happen when they should, and that it will be updated when that happens. Now this week we have a problem, every ones tax day was moved! Everyone will now have Tuesday as tax day. That means the part that actually evaluates and charges your taxes, stipends and bonuses hasn't run when it thought it should. The account history is just punching through its formulas for how much tax you have, how many days til tax day (now negative becuase it hasn't been updated as to the new tax day yet) and you cumulative everything (overflowing because its counting past your tax day).
Hold your breath and wait until the two systems get a chance to sync up. Let the tax collector actually run, and THEN come here and complain about how it all worked. You havn't even been charged yet, and everyone recieved at least 1 extra tax free day depending on when your old taxes were.

I, for one, just find it intersting and a little scary that my property tax estimation shows almost $4600. If you add up my land, the *real* tax should be no more than $780..
Somethings up... I'm willing to wait until tomorrow... but I will be one unhappy camper if I'm charged the 4600.
Lindens.... say, hypothetically, I do get charged the 4600.. how do I go about getting a refund?

That was quite a logical jump there, Mearl. Come down, it's gonna be ok.

Concerns are valid, of course.
I was just asking. You are openly questioning the length and validity of the testing for 1.1. I was wondering if you helped at all with it? If it had been longer would you have? If people do not help test the software with their particular hardware configurations and report the bugs they find, it becomes very, very difficult to have those bugs fixed prior to release. The 1.1 beta was open to everyone 24 hours a day for about 1 week prior to release I think, at least.
I know that the accounting was not a part of the 1.1 beta program and that could come back and bite them very soon now.

Hrm, as you just mentioned, Ama, I dont' think accounting was in 1.1. I sure never gave it much more than a glance.
It's definitely scary looking at accounting right now. Like others my bonus has dropped over $2000 (from the pre-v1.0 value). My land taxes are going through the roof, even as I release more land (I have less land now than I did in 1.0 and WAY more taxes, well according to account history).
My bonus value, at the v1.1 super fund value of: $407, hasn't changed since 1.1 went live, even though I've bought and sold land multiple times, and de-rez/rez'd/built objects.
My other account (yeah I have 2 :p) had a base stipend of $-77, now it's $0. Base, which should always be $1000 -- try telling me there's no bugs in the system, heh. I'm willing to give the tax man one chance and see how things work out. But I expect wall street to turn upside down come tomorrow.
Right now according to my tax report I'll lose about 1/2 of my total money. I believe at last check I was going to lose about $5000 or so, when, by my mental theory (which is usually pretty lacking) I should break even, or lose maybe $100-$300, as I was pre-v1.1.

Okay, it looks like my stipend and taxes were just processed, and I was in the hole about $2K, which was taken out of my reserve. This mean's my stipend was over 40% lower than it was 2 weeks ago (I didn't get one last week). What is going on here? Why is my stipend so low and my taxes so high? I had over $2K to spare my last stipend/tax day. I am not happy right now...

My bonus dropped by around $1500 or so but my taxes stayed the same as they had been before. I just figured it was because I haven't been on much and haven't been rated much lately, while others below me are getting rated more frequently. If it's a bug, YAY! but if it's not, dems be the breaks man.
Ack! I take it back. My taxes were assessed at over 2k more than what they were estimated as last night, and my bonus dropped from over $4000 to under $2000 since last night. Mommy!!
