Negative rating!

Yes, I am just nor sure how many neg ratings I want.

The only thing that always hurt in SL is rating system I am totaly against it!
The most negative rates are unfair. Someone told me long long before LL wants to change it but when?!

The problem with the rating system, if if i neg rate someone, they neg rate back. My advice is just mute them.

i voted no. i think it's perfectly valid to either rate something positively or just leave it neutral. i've never given a negative rating and probably never will. beyond using it as a childish griefing tool, i won't see the point of saying to somebody, via ratings, that their build is ugly or their behaviour is inappropriate just to be triple negged and yelled at by them and all their alts.

it's just a game after all. why am i gonna ruin my experience provoking people? what do i care what other people build or how they look or act?

of course my hypothesis is crafted to make my plethora of negratings look like a virtue.

Go to a Linden online. Say hello. Neg rate them. Shout something like "thats for the seals!"
Walk away.

I find stuff like that very funny. But then I am weird.

I take a look at the negative rating issue and ask "is this really an issue?" I mean, lets take a serious look at it, it's a consequence and a balance into the system. If someone negatively rates you, then you have the ability and power to negetively rate them back - they get hurt as much as you would. I also take a look at it in this manner... the ratings are something you can adjust later on, so if you have a legitimate reason why you do not like someone, you can always re-rate them later.

I voted yes. It's for those times that someone is being an asshat but they are keeping their asshattery below a level that can be abuse reported. Besides that, I don't think the Lindens can suspend you for honestly negging someone, unlike honestly abuse-reporting someone. (hugs Aces Spade, somewhere)

Part of the problem with the neg rating system is that you can't always neg rate back. If someone uses a build of yours to neg you while you're not there or they TP away before you know what hit you, unless you track them down or a build of theirs, you can not retaliate.

I just wish they'd make it so you can rate someone at anytime, or take it away altogether.

I vote no, and here is why.
I find people do it for unfair reasons, jealousy, just being a mean person and other not vaild reasons.
I think it should be removed and if you dont like someone or there work just dont rate at all.

I find neg ratings counterproductive.

Negs seem to fall into three categories:

1. negs for bad behaviour (which probably aren't that effective since anyone who is deliberatly being nasty isn't going to care if he gets negged. He may like the attention
   
2. Matters of taste- someone dislikes my build or my avitar. The problem here is this is based on personal preferences. Most people don't create things with the intent to annoy people (there are exceptions). Why should they be punished?
   
3. Frivilous neg ratings- alt attacks, convincing people to neg strangers one is mad at, and so on. Again, people getting penalties they don't deserve.
   

I was neg rated for being at Schwansons club!!! What does that say about him?? OMG what does it say about me!!?

Nothing...I got negative rating because a freak asked me for money to return it!
1k if I want to get my negative rating back! (I got 3 from him)

And another negative ratings were from a Lovely lady. Wont tell her name because everyone knows her well! ( I got 3 from her)

And the other 3 are from a person who I never met in SL and I think he or she doesnt play, its just an avatar to rate negative without message!

This negative rating system needs some change or?!

this game is never more real then when you get a negrating.

the only part about negs i don't like is alt accounts. that is quantifiable abuse. there is also the posibility of group negrating coercion. but that would require an arbitrator to resolve. perhaps a player government? (ducks)
