I was just wondering if anyone in SL is also a BurningMan enthusiasts in rl?

It seems to me that the urges that drive BurningMan are similar to those fostered in SL. Those urges, in no particular order, are: creativity without limitation, community without exclusion, diversity without marginalization.

So, any playa veterans out there? Any burner wannabes, like me, who might want to witness the rl version of SL?

I knew that the BurningMan/SL connection could not be original on my part. I am thrilled to see that someone else made it happen in SL. Thanks, Talen, I will look it up. :)

Anyone know if it is a regular event?

has been a regular event 2 years running and I see no reason why it wouldn't happen again this year. We even burned the stick man at the closing :D

My brother and I went to Burning Man 2002, and unusual year in that it was cold and it rained a lot. I absolutely loved it and would like to go again before the yuppies move in and irrevocably ruin it "for the children" like they did Renaissance Faire.

My brother goes every year and helps them set up. He mentioned that there are a lot of rumblings among the people who put it on to make it "child friendly". I don't know what kind of parent would take their small children out to a playa in the middle of the desert with no plumbing for two weeks, but hey, they want to accomodate the asshats.

So yeah, I'm looking into the possibility of going again this year with my brother. The second it gets yuppified and child friendly though - I'm going to have to look for another place to go. :(
