Why is it you can only die in certain regions of Second Life and not everywhere.

I believe the land has to be set to 'unsafe'. Look for the little heart icon in the upper right corner.

exactly, it's not really dying. basically SL isn't a fictional world with stormtroopers and orcs where we're all heroes fighting for justice. any death is going to have to come from someone making something that can kill you and not from the world itself. SL is mainly about creative expression and not fighting and killing things so the ability to die is only in SL for the purpose of games-inside-the-game that people want to make where you do have a reason to die. nobody wants to be building something and get killed out of nowhere by another player.

Why is it that a question ends in a period.

Because SL != FPS. (Except where you see the little heart at the top of your screen.)

It's to encourage people to pursue other ways of having an interesting time in SL, I imagine. (But what do I know? I'm only a noob.)

Not the mention death in SL is you dont want it is bloody annoying. So I'm on the west coat of SL and someone kills me.. Now I'm back on the east cost.. The map is _huge_ I cant just run back to my previous spot easily like in a FPS. Though teleporting makes it less annoying than it can be.

i think for "why can't you die everywhere" the answer is it's not what SL is about and would annoy people like crazy, and the answer to "why have it at all" is that this opens up possibilities for games inside of SL. it's like you can go to the park and play football but the park isn't a football statium.

For one thing, SL is not an RPG or FPS with a combat themed genre.
