On the same note, wonder if SL will ever use Midi files... just for basic effects, they aint bad quality and about the same size as some of the small 10 second wav files

Title basically says it all... are there any good sound programs that can chop up wav files into exact increments (as used in SL)? Preferably one that is automatic and you supply the time ya want per segment and it does it for you.

Simon:
This is what I use... Chop up your MP3 files with "Cool MP3 Splitter" (Shareware). I think it's free for the first 30 days or so, then you must purchase (which i have done, becuase it's truly a good program). You can specify what type of slice... ie. per time seconds is what i use (9). And it puts them neatly into a folder you specify, ranging from 1 on up. Then I use "DBPowerAmp" to convert them into wav files (FREEWARE). Also a good program... once you install it, you will have it imbedded into your right click menu as "Convert To..." and you can convert from wav to mp3 or mp3 to wav etc. You can also specify how it's converted (ie 44.1 khz, and 16-bit stereo). Also neatly tucks them up into a folder you specify ranging wav01 and up. Hope this help you out. --H2o _____________________
For the more technically minded - the problem is actually NOT the asset server (or 'asshat' as you prefer to affectionately call it herein). |

I was looking for this kinda thing couple weeks ago, though cooledit trials for a month it's one of the best sound editors i've used.
http://www.mpex.net/en/software/details/cooledit.html Otherwise it appears Adobe has bought it and it became Audition, but the old demo version is still available. _____________________

If you are looking for a cheap way and are after simple sound samples :
Musicmatch Jukebox - Export to Wav Windows Sound Recorded (everyone has this) - To crop to the section you want. Making music loops ? - Fruity loops is sooo cool ! Wav vs Mp3 - Swish (Flash lookalike) actually compresses wavs to smaller than Mp3 ????? maybe SL could too ???? |
