If so, check this site out: http://www.opensecrets.org/It is a fantastic break down of how much is contributed to every politician in office sorted by industry and special interest group. You can even enter your zip code and see how much your neighbors contributed and to whom. It was interesting to learn that insurance companies actually have contributed more to Bush's campaign than Big Oil did. Though not all that surprising. What slays me is that in 2004 the insurance industry contributed a grand total of $34,312,720 to politicians but they claim that they can't afford to pay off all of the claims submitted by people who had hurricane property damage in the state of Florida. Hey - how about using some of the 34 million fu*king dollars that you budgeted to pay to politicians in 2005 and pay off some claims you assmonkeys. This does not even count the money they spend lobbying - which is even MORE. All these corporations that are crying the blues and laying people off.... check out how much they are contributing to campaigns and how much they spend on lobbying. Then ask yourself how many people they could hire by keeping that money within the corporation. Greed among these people is so rampant that it's criminal. .

From: Rose Karuna Greed among these people is so rampant that it's criminal. Except it isn't. Which is the problem.... It would be cool to see the police chase down a CEO like in "cops," where he gets his shirt ripped off at the end and is swearing his ass off... But it doesn't happen like that. Everything they are doing is perfectly legal, just extremely immoral and selfish. Edit: Sorry forgot to praise capitalism as the end all blessing that has purified the world.

And Bush signed a bill today to greatly hamper class action lawsuits and multi-party lawsuits against corporations. Gee..what a suprise. They are certainly getting thier money's worth.

Edit: Sorry forgot to praise capitalism as the end all blessing that has purified the world. Your right - most of the time all they get is more corporate welfare when they should be thrown in the slammer for extorting the U.S. tax payers. Here is a link to a site that lists all the corporations accused of fraud: http://www.citizenworks.org/enron/corp-scandal.phpIt also shows how much in political contributions they gave and to which party. .

Lawsuits were meant to punish those who did wrong. I heard Bush saying something like, "These lawsuits are hurting businesses..." isn't that the point of a lawsuit of this type? To undo the damage done to to people by the business, at the cost of the business itself? Oh yes, let's just continue to stroke the bellies of every major corporation in America... now they know they can get away with even more now that lawsuits against them will hurt less.

Consider this:
In 1940, corporations and individuals roughly split the federal income tax bill equally. As of 2003, corporations were paying just 13.7 percent of the federal tax bill, while individuals were paying 86.3 percent, or almost $800 billion. And according to the Congressional Budget Office, corporate income taxes in 2002 contributed to less than one-tenth of overall federal budget revenues (down from 15 percent in the 1970s and 25 percent in the 1960s). Corporate tax revenues also now represent only 1.5 percent of GDP, down from 4.1 percent in 1965. Such a decline in corporate tax revenue means individual taxpayers are paying more and getting less.
In that light, my question is, who is going to be paying federal tax after they offshore most of our jobs?

This thread seriously needs a Republican to chime in.

From: Kendra Bancroft They won't be able to comment on this until Limbaugh weighs in on this subject first. Funny, I was just thinking about him and his other pals, like O'Reilly and Coulter....If the Republicans control the House, the Senate, the White House, and (soon) the Supreme Court, shouldn't these people have nothing to complain about? Or if they do, shouldn't they be blaming the conservatives in power these days?
