I think I'm coming down with something, so I'm going to take some Thera-Flu. Because last year I realized that the way to stop a cold is to find the most wretched, unbelieveably horrid substance you can possibly imagine and put it directly into your mouth.
Really, I don't even think the stuff has any active ingredients. I think the taste of it just convinces the cold virus to get the Hell out of Dodge before the host body succeeds in it's poorly orchestrated suicide attempt.
My God, I feel so sexy.
Cheers, everyone!

Oh I so agree with you. Thera Flu may smell nice but it makes you wanna puke right when you take a tiny little sip. UGHHH... Good luck with that!

A little better this morning.

The ironic thing, Nikolai, is that you're taking the stuff so that you can STOP puking/sneezing/whatever. It's like treating a broken nose by head-butting someone.
I only filled the coffee cup half way last night, so I could do it like a shot glass... but I only managed to concentrated the stuff. I made sure it wasn't too hot with a finger first. Then I gulped it down in one shot and held onto the kitchen counter for dear life until my face unclenched. I'm pretty sure I swallowed it at some point.
I do feel a little better, though. Fortunately this was a pre-emptive strike on my cold. I'm training up for the Cooper River Bridge 10K Run on April 2nd, and I don't want to spend my very first 10K run blowing snot on the other runners. Those people are really in shape, and there will be, like, thousands of them...

For me, the key is to add a generous shot of Jack Daniels. A squirt of lemon helps cut the congestion too and some honey will sweeten it up a bit.
Hope you feel better soon.

You have to take medicine? Mine just goes away by itself in a couple days.

From: Eggy Lippmann You have to take medicine? Mine just goes away by itself in a couple days. Well, it's like this: You can not take medicines and suffer the cold for seven whole days. Or, you can take medicines and the cold will be gone in a week.

I love Thera-Flu! Not the taste of course... it's pretty awful, although the honey lemon isn't too hard to swallow. It just gives you such a good buzz that you don't care that you're sick for a couple of hours.

Yeah, it's pretty much a sedative.

I almost never take medicine of any kind, but I've got this 10K coming up on Saturday and I don't want to take any chances.
I keep thinking back to my sister's place. She has allergies, so there's a pharmacy in her medicine cabinet. But I'm lucky if I have Band-Aids. It's not often that I need anything, but when I do I have to get my sluggish carcass into the car and drive to the store.
I'm pretty much over it now, though. Thanks for sharing my Thera-Flu pain. I'll remember the sugar and honey for nest time!

Surely it can't taste as bad as Buckley's Mixture, can it?
