OK this question came to me after reading another thread. In world I was asked by a student who was doing a paper on SL if at some time in the future I would be willing to answer some questions about my experience in SL. I said yes, thought it sounded great and exchanged cards w/ the person. I see from some other posts that researchers such as these are asked or 'required' to contact the Lindens first and clear this w/ them. What, if any, difficulty would I or anyone else have if they knowingly or unknowingly participated in an interview of this type w/out checking if a 'contrct' has been made w/ the Lindens?

Oh and as a side note.....I posted in the 'what do U do about UR Calling Cards' and I just realized I probably deleted this poor gals CC so will probably never hear from her anyway.............sigh

You have no obligation to check the bona fides of the researcher but it was very considerate of you to think of other players. You might want to suggest that your interviewer contact Linden Lab if they haven't.

It is my understanding that the LL policy of having researchers contact them is for the protection of other players. My guess is that they give them a "you agree to do this when using SL for research" and ask them to affirm it. But I'm just guessing.
