First, I want to say that I'm tired of this FIC nonsense. This is an open letter to the SL community. I am putting it all on the line, here!

To me, the idea that there is some secret,
hedonistic society wrapped around quite nearly
everything in Second Life is absolutely absurd.
Feted Inner Core is a myth.
Everyone who thinks otherwise is insane, and we all know that the
truth of the matter is that there are a few paranoid
eccentrics out there who think otherwise, but all they really
do is send out baseless accusations and never names or proof.
I think if we work together, there is absolutely
nothing that will stop us from building a great community.
No one will be able to say that there are some conspirators in control, and
everybody will be happy as we all create a commerce-based metaverse and
realize a utopian society that we can all live in.
Could there honestly be some aristocracy in charge
over all that goes on in Second Life? The idea is
really laughable. Builders and scripters and the like
each communicate and share idea, but are not conspiring!
Open your eyes, and see, all you paranoid residents
whose fear reduces them to a finger-pointing,
nay-saying heap of anti-capitalists! Soon after you will
see the truth!
You could keep saying that there are forces
out there to control you, but when you pick
up rocks in SL and look underneath, there's no FIC.

Only the true FIC would deny that they are FIC. In fact, I called the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (they're supposed to know *a lot*) at +1 (703) 482-0623 and asked if Hiro Pendragon was a member of the FIC and they denied any knowledge of either Hiro or the FIC. Do we really need further proof?

I don't know... I think there is yet some profit to be made off this FIC gig.
At this point, FIC is analogous to RL "fnord" in absurdity... but it will be a truly grand thing to behold if it can reach Church of the Subgenius proportions. Confirmation bias is the root of all belief in the existance of 'The FIC'.
Those who believe in the existance of 'The FIC' would be social martyrs, but in actuality are socialites unable to find any other manner in which to have a 'role' in the culture. Whenever you hear someone talking about 'The FIC', merely replace 'The FIC' with 'that group who won't accept me and grant me status as I desire' and there you have the real motivation and purpose that drives them.... sour grapes. For those unfamiliar with the etymology, the term 'sour grapes' refers to someone who, unable to obtain the grapes for themself, content themselves with telling everyone else they are 'sour' and not worth having... thus hoping to 'punish' those who will not accept them. Generally speaking, it is a futile activity that speaks more to the foolishness of the one indulging in it than anything, after all -- if that effort were expended towards healthy and enjoyable endeavors, the concern that a particular group won't accept them would likely be mitigated, if not eliminated all together. Ah well. Takes all kinds to spin this dirtball, don't it? _____________________
