I have been without my computer for awhole freaking week and I'm pissed. I put it in the shop and they won't even look at it til Monday, maybe fix it then or Tuesday and I got a sl wedding next week.

My problem: PC Crashed, went to restart and it will only load the background and nothing else. I can get into safemode but not a clue what to do then. Don't know if it is registery problem, spyware problem or virus... all I know is.... I have to have it by Tuesday. I will greatly reward whoever can help me with Lbucks.

This crappy little laptop cannot handle the sl game cause of video card.

If using Windows Millinium, 2000, or XP. Go into Safe Mode, then use System Restore to restore your...um...system to an earlier date. Like last week or month. The amount of past restore points are detirmined by how much drive space your computer has dedicated to Sys Restore, since you most likely have not messed with it, I'm pretty sure the default setting will have a point prior to when you started having problems.

Beyond that: Could be a heat issue, could be a failed PCI card, could be bad RAM....

Thank you, I'll bring it home and try it. If it doesn't work then I'll just have to find someone else who can fix it that day.

ALSO go into your add/remove programs and clean up any ad/spyware looking garbage as well ie. Wintools, new domains.net, webrebates etc...

If you have a virusscanner run it through safemode and have it check ALL FILES, and run adaware, spybot, hijack this etc to help clean up any spy/ad ware.

Another highly recommended step is to clean up your programs that load in the registry if you're savvy w. the registry. (I don't know if there are any utilities for that or not and its definately not somewhere you want to play or experiment.)

These are very sad times to be an American but where is the rage among the citizenry? Where are the flag wavers who so laud the freedoms symbolized by a flag and written by quill pens in our constitution? Why are we not rallying in the streets against this sort of attrocity? Why because we are gluttonous lazy bastards who say it won't happen to me so who cares. --Ishtar Pasteur

Also can't hurt to start the machine in Safe Mode, then go to start > run > msconfig. Check the Startup tab for anything suspicious (or just turn 'em all off, nothing in 'Startup' is system critical, but don't touch any of the other tabs :D ).
