If cancelled accounts get reactivated with the 9.95 one time plan and can access the world .... do I get to do the same with my account and just pay for land costs if I'm not interested in the stipends you get with the 9.95/month account? I mean I get some dwell but do not buy anything. I am not trying to aquire any more land and do not have to pay object or land taxes.

Yes. You can rejoin for the one-time 9.95 fee, and then select a tier to own land. =D

For example, if you only want a basic membership + 512 sq m (1/128 of a region), you will pay a grand total of only $5/month.

Other land tiers are at the bottom of this page:
http://secondlife.com/support/faq-v1_2.php

With no land tier selected, all that the premium account gives you beyond the basic account is:

- An extra L$500 to start
- An extra L$450 per week stipend
- The right to claim up to 512 sq m of land

This means a monthly premium member is paying $4.95 more than a basic + 512 member, and all they get for it is $500 to start and $450 more weekly stipend.

So the premium monthly is probably the least cost-effective option.

I'd have to say that currently the most long-term cost effective option would be the premium annual. With the premium annual, you only pay $1/month more than basic + 512, and you get L$450 extra every week.

But, if you think you'll be able to make a good L$ income with your builds, where making L$450/wk seems like chump change, the basic membership + land tier becomes the best option.

You you sure, kex? I am pretty certain you have to pay US$9.95 per month in order to have the minimum land allotment of 512m.

A basic member with one time fee of US$10, has no rights to land ownership. This does not rule out them leasing land though.

one time accounts can pay a land tier fee and own land. so a one timer can pay $5 a month and own 512sm. they get a much smaller stipend and they're not eligible for the future benefits that will be afforded premium account holders (whatever that means).

existing accounts that choose this option also forever give up the free 1024sm land allotment they have now.
