I think it's very, VERY amusing that a few folks are basing the quality of SL on the forum posts. It is a well known fact of internet life that the majority of posts on a web site will be negative, down trodden, poor me type threads.

Look at Everquest as a PRIME example. If the message boards were an indicator of game/community health then EQ should have ceased functioning years ago. Yet it is *still* the most popular, expansive online game around with the largest user base.

Never judge a product based on it's own websites msg boards. Folks go to those boards to explode and vent. That is the nature of the beast. Instead, look for off site boards, reviews, articles. Fan sites even, though SL is still to young to have any.

Guys, SL is a baby still. It's growing. Heck, even Alphaworlds is still around and SL stomps the living piss out of AW. Have no fears, SL has a bright future ahead of it.

Only one of them bases it on forum posts. The 'me too' one is about SL itself.

It is usually the case that 1% of all users cause 99% of all problems.

I have also learned since EQ that the people who post 'I'm fed up!' 'I'm leaving!' etc. are usually the last people to actually leave. There are of course exceptions. I have read many, many, many online community posts of that nature only to see them posting in a 'normal' fasion the next week or run into them in game a couple of days later. People just vent a lot, get it out of their system, and realize things aren't really that bad and get on with their lives.

If they are really quiting because they hate the game or the community, chances are they won't stop to tell you about it.

As a rule I ignore all 'I'm leaving' or 'I'm fed up' type posts. And anything that labels itself as a 'hot' topic in the title. Life is saner that way.

The people responsible for moderating this post have been sacked. At great cost, and at the last minute, we have managed to replace them with a team of three blind chimps and one canadian midget.

I'm sorry, due to recent regulations imposed by the queen, we have been forced to sack the one canadian midget that was due to replace those who have been sacked.

We're sorry.

We now have a replacement for the illegal canadian midget, who was supposed to replace those that were sacked beacuse they had had it with the people that had had it.

Unfortunately the new replacement, a hippo, tends to hit half the bloody keyboard at a time with it's ungainly hoof's, and so youre posts will probably no longer be moderated or get through at all! :D

Being a Canadian myself I can honestly tell you that Ontario is the only province in Canada to ban dwarf tossing. The rest of us are much more enlightened:P

Heh, I'm glad that this thread is going as well as it is. This forum needed some light heartedness recently. Anyways, all is good.

Back to the topic on hand. It appears that the hippo that was hired to replace the illegal canadian midget that was due to replace those that were sacked after faving replaced those that have had it with having had it is now floating serenely in the Kissling river. I think I noticed a lovely pair of cement shoes on the beast and officially blame Devlin. The beast seems to not have noticed the shoes to the massive blubber that is still boyant enough to offset the concrete.

And even though Devlin as repeatedly llApplyImpulse(<0.0, 0.0, -10.0>;) on the creature, it refuses to stay under for any length of time.

Therefore, I say we all sack Devlin just cause it might be cool. And besides, that Italian-American Anti-Defamation League has had nothing to complain about in ages, and they need some new material. :D
