Wow. I totally relate to all of those answers. Especially the "going back and realizing what people were thinking" bit. I have a horrible legacy in my mind of missed opportunities, getting picked on, talks with teachers about failing all the time, etc. I always get frustrated when I realize I'd missed something... and I apparently miss a lot. No wonder I was THE quintessential space-cadet in school.

Great interview - if the little cutie that he's holding is his, it looks to me like more than his work related accomplishments are great. Funny thing, either my husband or I have ever been diagnosed with Asperger’s (no one had even heard of it in our day) but we both had similar hassles growing up (hubby's a programmer/designer and I do crypto). We both could SO relate when he said: From: someone BC: Yes, I'm extremely bad at working on things which seem pointless (uninteresting I can mostly deal with). It's caused problems for me at some workplaces, particularly when the whole job was to maintain a garbage legacy codebase. I wonder if independent, perhaps different sort of thinkers don't gravitate towards the IT fields in general? Just a thought. .

Personally - I can get so immersed in what I'm doing, that I tune out everything - even someone trying to ask me a question. And the "space cadet" comment? Most of my teachers in school would have described me that way, at least when I was younger. Wish I could see the interview.... sounds like it'd really hit home
