So here's something to think about, with the introduction of real US Dollar to Linden Dollar and vice versus exchange, does that make all current (and future) Second Life casinos, slot machines, money games, gambling facilities, etc. technically illegal? What about lotteries?
I believe the answer to be yes, but its something to think and about. Not even specifically to gambling either, more along the lines of the limiations and rules from the real world that are suddenly injected into the virtual world that was Second Life. It's a shame to see the sudden loss of freedom, harmless fun, and imagination.
Is this why the Atlas Casino suddenly lost support? What about Omega Games and its new owners? What about Candie's weekly Lottery?

There is no US$ to L$ transfer, but there is a L$ to US$ transfer. That may be enough for Omega Games and the Atlas Casino to be considered gambling operations -- especially since, with the developer bonus, the owners are likely to be making money off of them.

There will not be a direct US$ for L$ exchange. Auctions and other methods (such as rewarding users with high dwell) will be used instead.

The casinos are likely to have high dwell, so although the connection is not direct, it may still be close enough for charges of running an illegal gambling operation. Edit: To quote you from your other thread: From: someone What are L$ good for in 1.2? Beyond exchange, there will be ways to turn L$ into real-world money Definitely sounds direct enough to be considered gambling profits.

My dwell at the midnight 7's slot machine could pay for the casino itself, I wager..... (Coney Casino)
