Hey everyone Im new to SL (my free trial ran out long ago) and im just about to pay for my first month. I was reading, and was told my a friend of mine that you can script items, make them move etc but i have absolutely no idea how to script or where to begin. If anyone could perhaps give me a few pointers or a link to a begginers guide that would be very helpful. Thanks, Max Terra.

The best way to learn scripting is to attend a class, they're held almost every day/night or everyother day/night, click the Events button the check for some.
You can also goto Help -> Script Help although this isn't the best tutorial as it can get complicated and small on explinations in some areas.
Another good way to learn is to look at public scripts and see what people did to acheiv things, there are alot of public scripts around and some on the forums too.
If there are any helpfull sites for scripting I'd be interisted too, I've never found any yet.

The in-world classes are a good way to start, definitely.
There's also a couple of documents to look at: the Beginner's Guide to Scripting, which you can get from the SL website (under Downloads -> Guides and Tutorials); and the Linden Scripting Language Guide, a big HTML file that should be in the Second Life program directory on your machine, named lsl_guide.htm. This file is what gets displayed when you choose Help -> Scripting Help in the game.
Also have a look in the Scripting and Script Library areas of the forum.
There should also be some scripts in your starting inventory, in the Scripts folder. They're pretty basic, but it's a place to start.
And with any scripted object that allows modification (like the vehicles that are available for cheap or free near the new vehicle sims), you can look at the scripts to see what they do. (You shouldn't copy the scripts for resale unless you have the creator's permission, of course.)
