I have some concerns about the new Dwell system that’s going to be implemented. I think stores will do very well with the new system; however houses and other personal builds are going to suffer. I don’t see my self jumping from build to build to give Dwell time to the places I like enough to vote for. I do agree with the Dwell system in Lindenwold. But not the entire world. I think the Vote booths should stay. Does anyone else feel the same way?
I know the Vote boths dont make us rich, but it is nice to see how many votes I get. I guess I'll just have to see how it works out.

According to a certain Linden, the vote booths will still be around

From: someone Originally posted by Dionysus Starseeker According to a certain Linden, the vote booths will still be around I wish that were true. But according to the official Update notice, the green boxes will be gone after version 1.1's first month. I agree with Skrull 100%. The people who will be rewarded by Dwell are the people who need it the least; and everyone else suffers by the lack of Voting. https://secondlife.com/updates/The rich get richer...

My Timeplunge ride in Lindenworld may be going bye-bye because of the Dwell ratings that get tallied after... What is it? A month? And that's because the ride doesn't last the minimum five minutes necessary for Dwell to kick in. So people leave after they get off and fly away. I'm working to extend the length of the ride, but it takes a lot of time because of the level of detail I'm using. (Anyone want to jump in and help? ) It's too bad the voting poles don't count too...

Tiger, are you sure that's how Dwell works? I mean, are you saying that if you have constant traffic on your land, SL still doesn't register *any* dwell if no individual stays longer than 5 minutes? I'd be surprised if it worked like that.

That's how I've understood it. It's to prevent areas like Tan from getting high dwell just because people fly over. they have to stay a minimum amount of time, which, last I heard, was set to five minutes.

With the introduction of Telehubs, the flyover won't be as beneficial as it used to be anyway.

I don't like the dwell system anywhere... people stand at random places all the time. I don't think looking at the dwell-amount can tell if people like the buildings on that part.
Also for rides in Lindenworld it sucks.. people take you ride, they love it or they hate it, and then they go away.. they won't stay longer at some ride just because they like it. Also rides that take longer get more dwell, but that doesn't have to mean people like it more then other.
I don't say we have to get rid of the dwell-system. It's nice to see where lots of people come often so you can go there if you want to meet people. But not for giving out rewards to anybody... and also not for deciding which attractions in linden world are to stay and which aren't!!! defenitly a bad idea!

I also don't like dwell... it rewards those who can sneak/confuse people into staying on their land for conversations... but then again... it takes knowledge to ring them in, but it takes genius to keep them there... that should be a quote, but I don't think it is... REGARDLESS, I am quite anti-dwell.

I'm afraid Tiger has it exactly correct. Here's the exact quote from the announcement on the Updates page: "It takes five minutes for Dwell to kick in and count, so locations well sited for overflight won't have an unfair advantage." https://secondlife.com/updates/

Doesn't work that way for Lindenworld: /3/b2/5513/1.html#post42654 From: someone General SL Bonus dwell starting with 1.1- -Based on percentage of the time online that day that a person spends on any of your plots -DOES include owner -Requires a 5 minute minimum dwell for each person that counts.
LW amusement park competition dwell - -Based simply on total number of people/ minutes on your site -Does NOT include owner -NO five minute minimum required.

I like being in Lindenworld - very fun atmosphere. I agreed to the dwell system only to get a spot there. I am against it and hope they do not replace vote booths with it. If the Spook House is asked to leave LindenWorld due to lack of dwell, I will be move it to Shipley. The show must go on! Sinatra

Come on Sinatra, I would bet that The Spook House has the highest dwell marks in all of Lindenworld. Right by the gate, plenty of reason to hang out. Your secure in your spot, at least until everyone in SL has gone on your ride.
I been on the the ride maybe a dozen times, (and I still dont have a shirt!) and there is always two or three people hanging around your place. You act like your afraid you will have to leave next month. lol.

Loki... it's not like you're leaving anytime soon either. I've visited your place (which is awesome), and it takes *at least* 5 minutes for someone to go through your ride-thingy.
