Is an autopatcher on the list? Personally I'd like to see the new physics engine first, but down the road an autopatcher would be very nice.

Don't we have an autopatcher? If you log in and there's an update it automatically detects this and after you approve download, and confirm installation directory the only thing you have to do is tell it if you want to start SL or go read the release notes. You don't have to go searching for a patch and install it yourself.

Didn't work for me for the last update. I got the message that an upgrade was needed, clicked "OK", the client quit, and...nothing happened.

Me too :D I assumed it was a failed attempt to open my browser to the download page.

Hmm...I haven't seen this. You might check if the patching "window" is hidden behind another window on your desktop. If not then check your preferences for an applicable checkbox; I'm not where I can teka a look right now. If all fails you might have a bug. Let's call it a semi-automatic patcher and send a note to support@lindenlab.com. :)

When you click OK to an upgrade, it appears to launch another executable that downloads the installer. Your antivirus software may interfere with this.

I reinstalled 1.1.7 and tried again and it worked.

I have had occasions also where I click to download the update and it does not do anything. But it is fairly simple to remedy with hopping to the web site.

Yeah, I can't patch. It's a really looonnnggg political process to get the machines reinstalled every time a compulsory patch comes out...
