Hi!

I have a RL friend who is joining me IW to help me with the shop- I need to get her familiar with how sl works, and quickly. I looked in the Events menu for classes, there are some but not nearly as many it seems as there used to be. Anyway, classes i've got figured out, now I need to know about IW teaching resources. :)

If you have a place IW that offers instructional material, pls post the coords below (or drop me a LM) and tell me a bit about what can be learned there. Any reccomendations are welcome. :)

also, if you were showing someone around SL for the first time, what builds/attractions would you consider absolutely neccesary to see to really get a feel for the world?
I dont get out much anymore, so any suggestions would be helpful. Coords to the location you reccomend would be great, or drop me a LM in world :)

Thanks!
Nephi

Hank has his library in Phobos. It's full of open source scripts and items, as well as informational notecards. :)

OK, yet another post that shows up as neil.

That was me, folks, not neil.

While im looking for advice, can anyone tell me what to do to avoid the following issue:
I have had several instances now where, even though it says at the top of the screen that Nephilaine Protagonist is logged in, my posts will show up as being posted by Neil.
Neil and I do not share desktops, however we do have one laptop that we use between the two of us, and it seems to happen exclusively whenever i post from the laptop.
but not EVERY time i post from the laptop.

any ideas? this really is driving me nuts.

**bonus information: knowing this is prone to happen, before starting this thread i logged out of the site and logged back in in the hopes of preventing it. no luck. GRR!

Ivory Tower of Primitives
Not sure if it is still in Noyo or not. Lumi had posted he was moving it.

Ivory Tower is still in Noyo, Lumi gave me a tour of the new tower he is building which is looking brilliant, plus a new building about textures.

I would add Neverland, it finishes tomorrow but is absolutely fantastic. Also think Heaven in Krittania is stunning.

Love the giant beanstalk in Welsh, and also Japanese Garden in Tehama.

Neph,

Additionally, there is a knowledge base at http://www.sluniverse.com/kb/ that contains a lot of frequently asked questions about SL, along with some tutorials. I am adding content to it all the time, and it is focused towards beginning players.

I think Jopsy Pendragon's Ethereal Lands in Teal (211, 53) is a great place to take a new person. He has a little hobbit hole with an Oracle (I don't think she gives answers anymore, she used to), and you can ride the green plane up to the fireworks show during SL nighttime, it's impressive and fun. You can also ride the red rocket up to his particle laboratory and learn about and play with particle effects. Riding the red arrow back down will put you in his castle-like workshop. If you are lucky enough to catch Jopsy there, he's a charming and talkative host. It's a nice place to show off some of the things SL can do. :)

All the ones I was going to mention have been. For future reference, but not this situation, a replica of the orientation area is set up in Dore at the beautiful Chinese village.

Neph, I believe if you go to the user control panel in the forums and options or preferences (forget which), there's an option to NOT keep you logged in via cookies, forcing you to log in each time.

Regards,

Thirded on the Ivory Tower. Anecdote: met a newbie on day one, on her day three she said she'd spent day two in the Tower. She seemed quite expierienced after her studies.

The Learning Center has some good stuff. They also have classes and lots of things for a newbie. There are some good notes on SL etiquette as well. :) Hope your friend has a great time!
