I've been a member for a bit now and it seems as if SL is getting very laggy and clunky
of late... I keep getting server full problems, strange jumps-you fly somewhere and then "jump" back uncontrollably... everything takes an age to rez and the land prices are extortionate... am I just getting jaded or is this place getting a bit full?

Have you checked your computer....does it meet specs? Hows your video card?

You can also change options in preferences to get the system running better. As for land prices they are actually the lowest they're actually quite good thesed days.

I'm using the same computer as I have since I started in SL. I am a mac user and I did notice this change after the last beta upgrade...any other mac users notice a change?

thanks

Yes, things are noticeably more laggy with 1.5

I also noticed that packet loss is a lot worse nowadays. :(

If you shut down all your internet software and watch your connection information does a lot of data still tick over?

If so, services.exe might be sucking a lot of bandwidth (I know mine was)..

So, get zone alarm up and forbid services to connect to the internet.

Run spybot and adaware

Run a virus scanner, a free one like Avast! is a good choice.

If these don't work, talk to your ISP.

My Mac client has had high packet loss since 1.5. I often fly past something uncontrollably, then the server and client get on speaking terms and figure where I'm really supposed to be. Or I'll get "stuck" flying in place, then end up somewhere else 200m away in the direction I was flying.

But overall, lag and other performance is about the same since pre-1.5.
