Lately as I fly around exploring I find property protected by some sort of system that transports me home.
I think it is fine if people want privacy and lock their property from others gaining entrance. I do not think it is fine to move my avatar to another location without my permission.
I just needed to get that off my chest.

You aren't the only one who feels this way. I like exploring myself, and it's off-putting to be annoyed in such a fashion. I feel that a number of these security scripts could be coded better, as to avoid redundantly trying to teleport an av home MULTIPLE times in succession in a sort of rapid-fire mode -- thus necessitating a relog. It's a poor implementation that results in frustration. Warnings, countdown timers to "Please leave the premises" would be welcome. These are things I would respectfully heed. And I have heard that better solutions are coming up, though.

As a rule I neg rate any security system that
A) Makes me need to Relog
B) Teleports me home without a warning
Both the owner and the creator.

They are very annoying to say the least. Especially when you are not near a hub sim when you run into one of those damned scripts. It should be a CS violation if it already isn't.

this issue just came up for some friends and I today when I was flying in one of my vehicles with them and happened to pass through an "auto boot" area... this is extremely frustrating for vehicle users since it ejects you but your vehicle sits, hovering in midair, over the land... today I had 3 people with me and we were all forced to relog... it ruined the whole "scenic tour" of the area... And there was no warning about it...
to make matters worse, when I reloged, I was still in the location with the boot script and it kept popping up a dialog telling me that I cannot be teleported and some such crap. it took me about 10 minutes to move off the area so I could teleport home myself... but because of this, I crashed again... If I had lost my vehicle due to this crap, I would have been furious...
I for one think these scripts should be forbidden on the main continent areas where people may need to pass through the area to get somewhere else... if you don't want people in your area, lock it down so they just bounce off...

These scripts scan a spherical radius which often ( nearly always ) extends beyond the rectangular boundaries of the land they are on. If that's the case it's griefing, call a Linden and they may disable the script. These things should be disallowed in the TOS.

The may scripts /scan/ a radius that extends beyond the person's property, but llTeleportAgentHome will not function unless/until the AV is within the bounds of the person's property. And you would have a hard time dissalowing them in the ToS when the lindens give us the function in LSL to do exactly what they do.

You can't teleport someone home if they aren't on your land, can you? But anyways, you know what would fix this? Zoning laws.

I don't care whether llTeleportAgentHome() works or not, it's irrelevant to my point. I was recently involved with one of these griefing so-called security scripts that was crashing people flying past a peice of land. The script was overextending the boundary, a Linden was called, he disabled the script, end of story.

The point is, if you are using the linden provided functions, TeleportAgentHome or EjectFromLand (I may have that last ones function name wrong, been a while) It /cannot/ over extend the boundry. There are other scripts that have been developed, but they arent as a rule a "security" script.

Apparently they can overextend, there is no doubt, it was proven in the case I was involved in. That's why we called the Lindens in the first place. Flying past the land not over it, we were crashing due to some action of a greifing so-called security script. Maybe a bug in LSL is allowing these things to cross land ownership borders. I don't know, neither do I care. My advice to the thread starter is to call a Linden and have this thing investigated.

I also use the term 'asshat'.
We need a TOS update. Security drones will have to announce a warning and give time to move.
