Taking a break.

I am taking a break from the game. The recent tone of things has just really started to bug me. (And here I was all excited about being able to get on as long as I reinstalled Windows every morning!)

The freedom in SL, it is obvoius, sometimes translates into people being able to behave in the worst kinds of ways. I just don't have the stomach for it. I spend my real life days fighting these kinds of behaviors in my real life community - it isn't in me to just sit back and not try to fight them here, but the stakes are so low it just isn't worth it to put up with the aggrevation. So I"m taking a sabbatical.

If I decide not to return, I'll let everyone know so they can get their items from the BTG. For now, I'm just planning to take a month or so off...

Aww. Please don't go! Lets go form a commune high up in the sky or something and live in self imposed isolation... but don't leave altogether!

I do hope you get withdrawral symptoms Bhodi, and come back! Someone has to organise us artist-types! lol

You'll be missed by alot of people if you decide to stay away, and I'd just like to say it was a pleasure to know you!

Enjoy your time in real life, Bhodi, although I think that "real life" thing is just a myth. I don't believe in it.

I have been here about 2 weeks and I fully agree with you.
I too am going to take a break after seeing all of the fighting going on in the forums. If I would have started Sl by reading the forums this past weekend, I probably would not have joined at all. Most of the people here are nice enough, however unfortunately a very few people are ruining it for everyone else.

Donnie, the forums are not representative of the majority of SL players. In the months that I've played, I've met only a couple of genuine beligerent players, and several mildly-annoying players. Most were new players who either had no intention of staying, or hadn't learned the rules yet. Beyond that handful, there are thousands of others to meet and hang out with. These people have been the most friendly, supportive, creative, and intelligent people I've ever chatted with in an online environment. SL rocks.

Plus, what other game lets you build exploding penguins? None!

I rest my case.

Bhodi, I hope you don't leave. I practically only just met you! Come hang out with us nice people next door in Olive when you come back, ok?

Also, Donnie, there are loads of terrific people in world. (and exploding penguins!). Don't let the forums push you away.

Sad to see you go!! Your gallery was the way to do it, girl, the right way ! I hope you can rejoin us eventually -- like someone said -- I hope you get the shakes and gotta come back . Hehe. No, seriously, enjoy the RL and also other games. It happens, sometimes, but know you got friends waiting for ya when ya get back!!

Bhodi, I'm so sorry to hear of your decision, we'll miss your presence as a person of wisdom and substance. And we'll miss your work as a committed patron of the arts.

I'm thinking of taking a bit of a self-imposed exile as well -- from forum threads that leave a bad taste in the mouth. You know those studies that say people who watch TV wildly overestimate the amount of violence a police officer is exposed to on a daily basis? Well I think too much forum reading can definitely give the wrong impression about the amount of bile and rancor in this online community.

We need funny intelligent committed folks like yourself now more than ever Bhodi -- hope to see you again in the new year.

Thanks, all. It is definately my intention to return Mid-January, when the new box-o-happiness gaming computer should be built and things will, no doubt, have calmed down a bit on other fronts as well! Feel free to host events at the Gallery or the Artists Colony while I'm gone. I just really think this month off will re-energize me and make me more creative in the long run!

I have missed seeing your AV around and the specialness that YOU bring to SL.

I am soooo sorry you have had issues here of late. I am hoping this break from the LIFE revives your passion for living in SL again.

Cubey is soooo right, there ARE very wonderful people in this game that I have come to know, love and look forward to being with everyday. I, for one, hope we don't lose Bhodi to a few when the majority miss Bhodi greatly.

So, if and when we see Bhodi's name pop up as on-line lets all IM a warm welcome back to our neighbor and friend.
