OMG!!!! WHAT A TRIP!!!

Lecktor and Oz, thanks for posting about this because I was, like, just talking with Cristiano and he said I should come ask you, Oz Spade, about this. I should visit because I am keen to learn about the chronological history of Second Life. :D

The SL history wiki is being worked on as we speak. Kudos to Oz for coding it and to Jarod for getting us hosting space.

Torley, if you have any questions feel free to shoot me an IM. I don't think theres much of Chronological History on there other than kinda the Firsts and some of the notecards for stuff like Governers Mansion kinda give some info towards that. I have been thinking of putting together a time line but wasn't sure exactly how to do it, maybe by point release?

Eggy, and kudos to you for thinking of it! :D I think the Wiki will be cool. And Jarod rocks for helping out too. :)

Well Oz, a timeline sounds like a great idea. I would probably do it like the wikipedia does, they have a node for each day. But since this is SL, I would probably keep it down to a node per month, and start populating it with the point release dates and join dates of early creators. Ezhar has a shitload of data on people's join dates, maybe we could write a script to automate it, or just parse the forum member list?
Hmm, best not to include EVERYONE. It would be pointless and spammy, IMHO.

Eggy this sounds marvelous, another idea I would like to see is highlight the first sims, alpha, beta and any interesting factoids involved. This sounds great !

If you are collecting documents like Change Histories and such, then would it be out of line to ask you guys to scoop as many of the Linden Rulings out if the forums as possible? There aren't many, but it would be important - I think - that when the Lindens make a final pronouncement about something, it should be recorded. Someday, it may form the basis of our legal traditions.

For instance, I don't know where it is, but the ruling about how Linden Lab is going to approach "hate" speech in Jessie - back during the "I Wish Kerry Was Dead" fiasco - seemed like a major declaration. It was a major departure from what the rules were a year ago.

I know it sounds tedious, but it might be SO beneficial someday if we gather all the "clarifications" the Lindens post here.

I really, really have to Second This. Ha ha.

I met a couple of sisters inworld the other day, they spoke highly of their "Second Culture" within the metaverse, and I don't know if that term's been used often before, but I found it apt to describe what happens in Second Life.

Stories before my time and "how things came to be the way they are now" would be awesome.

Maybe a gallery of really primitive prim objects, including a really blocky rocking chair, before the graphic enhancements with subsequent versions came... it'd be like watching Kranky Kong talk about the glory days of 8-bit video games. :D

Kathy, thats a great idea to do and I'm sure it would be usefull, it will take some time though. I'll try doing this in spare time, if anyone else wants to also please do.

Torley, I believe Crowcatcher Vanhalen(?) started a thread awhile ago on that topic of how things from the past influenced things today, some interisting finds in there. Also I do some more objects that I need to put out I think, I forget right now, lol.
