Right now, thanks to a post from Huns Valen, I'm having the sound of a modem connecting playing in my head. *beepityboopityboopitybeep* *click click* *breeeeeeee* *rattlerattlerattlechokecoughHAIRBALL* "Houston, we have contact." 's the problem with DSL. No anticipation! No "Will I get in? Is the line tied up? Am I gonna have to open a can o' smackdown on the next family member, friend, or house pet who picks up the phone?" ------- So. That's my current "Ah, those were the days!" thought. What's yours? Taste of Mom's cooking? The smell of moldy Seattle flora and fauna in the rain? Watching 70's and 80's Saturday morning cartoons? (and yes, I'm unmotivated at $WERK. Have pity. )

For me sometimes when I go shopping and hear the songs I grew up with. That's such a downer ..
Late night Sci Fi with the Twilight Zone - "I remember when I first saw this one......."

Any song that reminds me of my ex. Hey, it didn't say anything about good nostalgia in the title.

From: someone Originally posted by Darwin Appleby and giner ale. Isn't that what was scripted into the 'platinum edition'?? (Hoping someone gets the reference - but they'll probably remain silent or plead the 5th). Siggy.

Old SNL reruns. Like, from the '80s.

amber CRTs

any green or amber CRT. My first was a Zenith ZT1 data terminal with a 300baud modulator/demodulator. YAY MERIT!
Pico. Picospan. 'party' with filters.
RUSH 2112, Led Zeppelin, KISS, YES, Sex Pistols **added; Cocteau Twins.
Institutional oil based enamel paint on cinder block walls.
Shazam! The Six Million Dollar Man. Little House On the Prairie. NOVA. In Search Of.
Rocky road ice cream.
70s era Motorcycle exhaust smell.
The way a CB750F sounds like a coffee can with quarters rattling around in it.. all those tappets.
Basement smell. Moon Boots. Fireworks that boom. Earth clay. Swing sets.
Lake and sweet grass smell.
Warm engine cases though leather gloved hands.
The way the autumn night air - crisp and wet with the incense like scent of fallen leaves - rushes over, almost through the soul. I watch my shadow speeding along the blue black pavement as the moon winks at me alone though skeletal trees. Roll back the wrist and the machine roars between my legs, its headlight blazing on into the boundary. Home to where she is.
The silk of her hair on my neck. The touch of her skin still on my lips. The sound of her smile still in my head. It still is today, it is still today.

The sound of distant crows over a frosted field.
Feeling the loop and lift of winding country roads without having to drive them.
The sweet smell of honeysuckle.
Dr. Pepper in glass bottles.
The Chronicles of Narnia.
Snow pants.
Thundering waterfalls.
Photographs.

From: someone Originally posted by Green Fate any green or amber CRT. Y'know, Portugal is such a shitty backward country, that as late as 1998 we were still coding on black and orange VT320 terminals. Those were the days

the smell of honeysuckle does it to me every time . . .
the sound of a dial up modem does not considering my work is sadly STILL using that pathetic 28.8 dialup AND I have to share a modem line with my office mate. Which means we are always yelling across the cubicles "hey, I need to check e-mail can you get off the net?" ARGHH!
But honeysuckle . . .yeah, that does it . . .

WATERMELON BUBBLE GUM....reminds me of my first kiss.....the nervousness, the excitement, the melting into another person, racing heartbeat......Yumm!!
honeysuckle, frying hamburgers (not together) remind me of my grandparents house
being a tired passenger in a car when the windshield wipers come on....reminds me of the traveling we did when I was a kid....there is a little story, the wiper on the left is the kid, gets up at night, the mom is the wiper on the right, she gets up after the kid, tells him to go back to bed, and they both lay down again.......
The sound of crickets at night---
Huge trigger for me are perfumes...when I miss an old friend, I'll go out and buy the perfume they used to wear....brings back floods of memories
light blue walls CREEP me out......can't stand them
music -- of course
the smell of desk in a gradeschool...reminds me when I was about 2nd grade, i used to go out in the creek behind the school, and put little snails and some water in a cup, bring them back to class, well, one time they spilled, I got in trouble, had to lay my head on the desk, so now all desk smell like snails.....and bring back that memory
