Say I make something on someone else's land. And it becomes wildly popular.
I don't get dwell for the build, so I'm out the money that potentially should be mine, as I built the thing.
How will people that build on other people's land be rewarded for making good things in SL (and getting a slice of the $1000 pie?)

How do you know that it's not wildly popular for the person who's sitting in your building chatting up a storm, rather than the actual building?

Yeah, how will I know my mile-high billboard is effective?
(Okay, I'm just fooling around.)

Well, you don't get L$ for dwell earned on their land now so nothing would change really. You have no net gain in either scenario; the difference is it hurts in 1.2 because it might be real money.
I would suggest not building on someone else's land or forming a group with them so you share any gains. They deserve something from the scenario since you're using their land.

If you want to share the financial gain then a group is the way to go. Although it is a very good question: How will RL$ be awarded to groups with very high dwell? Money to every member? More to officers? Only to officers?
If groups allow you to split the money then 2 person groups are needed badly.

I've thought 2 person groups were needed since I signed up. The whole spousal thing and all.

When we are able to give cash rewards to dwell on group land, then we plan to send one check to the leader.

I agree that is a rather limited approach. I would prefer a more robust charter system (currently a blank text box) that would allow you to decide at group creation whether award money (if any) will be divided in the following ways: 1) Leader gets all 2) Officers split all 3) Split by % of land deeded to group. (If the person is no longer a member, that % is counted towards officers) 4) Split among everyone

Ok correct me if I am wrong on this but I think a lot of people have a misperception of how this is going to work. I don't think Linden labs is going to Actually send money back but I think its more so going to be a "conversion" of linden $ to how it will affect your account status.
For instance if a group or individual recieves the "developers bonus" it would be in the method of Linden $ that could be used to offset the "land costs that one would have to pay RL hence no real money sent out because if it were ever done to where RL money was sent out to people then the RL scam artists would come in and start mucking it up for everyone just to get that "award"
again like I said Please correct me if I am wrong here this is just my perception from everything I have read so far.

No, I had the choice of having a check sent to me for the bonus, or using it towards my next couple of billing period.

I havent seen this asked or explained yet - and maybe there is no need for BUT I would still like to know... when these incentives are being shared, will we any of it cross the Atlantic... or Pasific? Or would that be one of those.. "you agreed to be living in the US or Canada when signing up"? Then here is my reply: You accepted my money so I sure will accept yours as well Maybe this isnt an issue but I have been around for too long not to suspect... A Linden reply pretty please.

*waves to Matina - long time no see!*
Pirate has posted about getting a reward for Darklife, and he is in the UK. Sounds like it's not an issue.
