I've thought this up - looking at the recent publication Graphica and the whole idea of flipping pages and whatnot, I see some potential here.

Fellow writers and even fellow artists out there - who would be interested in forming some sort of creative arts guild to possibly put out publications, and promote the creative minded on SL?

Check out the Writer's Circle. :) It's been a sleeping group lately, but any day now we'll all wake up, start having meetings again, and get into the writing gist. It's free to join if you're interested, and if you want to host some events by all means (can make you an officer if you like.) If you have something else in mind, by all means, go for it. :)

I knew there HAD to be some like-minded folks out there. :)

Sure. That sounds great.

Sounds like a good group to join! =)

We have our own spot in the Group Forums but... needless to say, the group's been inactive for a while. Could use some rousing. :)

I would be happy to join, for the non-profit purpose. But as I mentioned to the creator of Graphica, he/she/they should make this available as a commercial enterprise, too. It would be great to make a yellow pages, or a sales brochure, for real estate listings perhaps. Those who made this wonderful flippable feature shouldn't cringe at the commercial use of their idea. After all, in RL, pages flip because they can flip, since Gutenberg, and they are used for all sorts of purposes. And if Gutenberg had just hewed to a non-profit agenda, none of us would be reading this on the Internet right now. So either make the function available as shareware for free, or sell it for either a fantastic sum so only the fantastically rich can buy it and you will end up feeling like you "sold out" and they may feel faintly guilty, or sell it for some reasonable sum so that both you and the community can benefit.

If you continue to hang on to it for an artisans/non-profit purpose, you may feel some satisfaction that no one has made anything "commercial" (which you may feel is synonomous with "sleazy";) out of it. But then someone else will come along anyway and write that script and sell it, and then your non-profit purpose will also be overshadowed. It's only a matter of time before the porno kings will be motivated to create this script.
