Er yeah, what he said. How do we enter the lottery to get a plot in the Galleria. And how does one apply for a plot of land at Ben's?

Yeah, the info on Ben's plots were a little light. Are they going by auction as well, or will current spot holders just be given the option to buy a plot?

I bet those 32m (and possibly 16m) plots will make good use of vending machine technology =)

I've got a lot of junk but only a couple things I've made which are up to my standards of quality to sell, so it's not worth it for me to invest in prime selling real estate yet, but maybe in a couple months I'll have more to sell...

I'm a bit sad to see AV central going away, not so much for the store, but for the architecture. It's such a great looking building. I wonder how many prims it is in total?

To enter the lottery to lease a plot at the Galleria respond to
this thread.

The lottey will be held on January 8th, right after the auction deadline.

We are planning:
For auction:
two Anchors - 1344 square meters
four Stores - 240 sq meters
For lottery:
12 Walk-ins- 64 sq meters
8 Stands - 32 sq meters
22 Kiosks - 16 sq meters

We hope the preview will be up before Chritmas.

Is this a lease only scenario or can your land allotment be used ? Oops nevermind that was answered in the announcemement...

From: someone
Galleria merchants will enter into a two-month lease, with the right to lease the six biggest spaces offered in a Linden Dollar auction closing Wednesday, January 7th ; the remainder of the stores will be distributed by lottery. At the end of the two-month lease period, new two-month leases will be auctioned.

Please explain the auction process in an example format. If I enter an auction and pay say L$10k for a spot then what? I pay, it counts towards my allotment and in a couple months I have to pay again to keep it (assuming I win the auction again)?

Seems like a tenant is paying twice under those circumstances.

Pleas clarify.

What about the prims?
12-20-2003 04:59
It was said that we would have more prims to use for our stores in the Galleria (about 5 times more). What I would like to know is the prim allocation per size of plot. Can a Linden please chime in with the answer? :)

the galleria is an advertisment area for newbs and tourists to explore. it's not a mall in the sense that we'll set up permanent shops for the residents to use.

imho the new resident malls are going to have to be built a few stores at a time on adjacent, seperately owned land with each owner agreeing to follow the architectural theme and the mall "rules" e.g. discount days. the arrangement won't require a formal group, just genuine cooperation to accomplish a goal.

Yes, for the auctioned parcels, participants must pay the auction bid and then only get the right to lease the store for two months. Also, the land will count against your land allotment. However, the prim per meter in the shopping sim will be 5x that of normal land so you will need relatively little land.

The auction helps make sure that the occupants of the larger stores - whether groups or individuals - will make good use of them.

It will be interesting to see if anyone actually makes a profit after paying the auction fee in two months time.

For auction:
two Anchors - 1344 square meters - about 1300 prims
four Stores - 240 sq meters - about 200 prims
For lottery:
10 Walk-ins- 64 sq meters - about 50 prims
8 Stands - 32 sq meters - about 25 prims
22 Kiosks - 16 sq meters - about 10 prims

It's not exactly proportional to the square meters because of the prims used to create the store structures.

I agree Chip. I was very interested in an anchor but in light of this information it doesnt seem like a good business plan.

Haney,
What if two or three people wanted to group own an anchor? Is that a possibility? Or will sole ownership be a requirement?

I think that an individual would have to bid. But after that then I don't see any problem with group ownership.

Haney,

So, there will be a mechanism to allow division of prims via group ownership?

I just want to be clear. No point in trying to lure partners if its not supported.

thx

Let me check on Monday. I think that group ownership of shopping parcels may have to wait until we add some group tools.

Any ETA on when the lottery will be over? I was browsing the new area yesterday, and it looked interesting. For those who are wanting to take advantage of these "shops", I would go take a look for yourself at the layout and sizes of the various shops available. It may help you decide which size better suits your needs. :)

I had really hoped the galleria would have been larger .. and somewhat more permanent.

After you bid on a spot at the Galleria ( for no doubt extreme prices) you don't get to keep the land!?

Nobody bid - this is just a money-losing proposition. (Right, nobody bid, heheh.)

If the land can't be bought, only leased, why not have a paid lotto instead? (You buy your tickets and your chances to win. Limit 100 per person or something.)

Are you waiting until group land features? When are those arriving? ^_~

I dont plan on bidding. Its a poor business decision. Best I can hope for is to get picked in the lottery. With over 100 people (posts.. didnt count people, may be less) the odds are not good.
