I dont get out like I should and dont know a lot of nightclub places to go besides those listed as a popular place. But, I have been fielding a lot of questions recently about where to go for a night club atmoshpere that is not a sex club or pick up joint playing techno music.
Do you have or know of a club that is a relaxed atmoshpere, that you can take a date (not look for one) that plays Jazz, Blues, Reggae, or similar? It seems there is some demand for this type of venue. Do they exist? Any recommedations for where to go for something along these lines would be appreciated.

I can honestly say that I think Pure Passion in Le Cadre is a relaxing place, although we do not play jazz we have a live DJ nightly taking on requests, a very classy atmosphere and very nice people.

I was at the Silver Dollar Saloon a couple weeks back, was a nice place with nice folks, dancing, a mechanical bull contest, and good conversation.

I think you might have given me an idea on what to do with my land in Grignano.
Maybe.

From: Loki Pico ...or pick up joint playing techno music.
LOL!!! Loki, this cracked me up... I laughed sooo hard. OMG!!! I'm curious about a jazz beatnik club though, something swingin' and mellow. Maybe a skylounge. hmmm... One big omission I'm noticing with these dance clubs -- where are all the chill-out rooms? There sure are rooms that *look* like them, but since crossfading of music between land parcels and allocation abilities are not as flexible as I'd like them to be, it's limited.

The Outback Club has a nice environment, no trance and appears to be without any sex balls on the premises.
(removed the High Society recommendation after noticing the music is trance)

Or how 'bout some 'Trane and Pharaoh trading outside sax riffs - like on the Live in Seattle CD - build that club and i'll arrive with with a group in toe.

From: Alan Palmerstone High Society is a swinging nightclub and the Outback Club has a nice environment. Both appear to be without any sex balls on the premises. I'll give another nod to Outback. Nice environment in there.

Out of curiosity, what would folks want in a non-dance, non-sex club? Like, specifically?

LF For me, I appreciate a variety of venues, but one thing I like about a non-dance, non-sex club might be that it's just a casual place to chill and socialize. Like a chat room, but with more fancy graphics. Haha... but really, the multimedia does take things to the next level... and an aesthetically well-designed venue can have psychological impact on how you enjoy yourself. Not unlike how buildings for such purposes are made in real life -- humans come to congregate. For example: I really like the Coffee Scene, located at the SL Public Library in Gualala. It is not a "club" per se but it is a very beautiful place to socialize and just hang out. Alternatives are good because then people have choice. Options offer possibilities, as opposed to any closeminded limitations.

Try Odil's Place in Ku (PG). There is a theme dance there every Saturday at 4:00 PM PST.
Check Events for Nov. 13.

Well this is spooky. Last night I dreamt that I opened a small place call Latonia's Lounge - cool music, a place to relax and chill out, talk to friends etc. No particles, big squashy couches and chairs. I woke up then. Would that be of interest to anyone?

Yeah Merwan... when SL improves live music handling capabilities (with inworld control, not just a radio stream) with less latency... it'll be MOST EXCELLENT!

The Mermaid Inn at the olde London/Neverland would be an ideal place for some fish and chips and a pint

Not to toot my own horn, but...
Tribal Drums is the only place in SL where you can both dance to the music AND make the music.

Torley mentioned it above - The Coffee Scene. Take a look, at least - the SL Public Library in Gualala. It's where I go when I want to mellow out. The music is usually either classical or an ambient techno groove. There's also almost always never anyone else there, so if you're looking for socializing with others, it might not be the best choice.

Chris Chris, I'm hoping this will change -- not that it will be PACKED... but yeah, a casual crowd that enjoys mellowing out there. You really said it. Ace: ANOTHER NOD FROM ME FOR THE TRIBAL DRUMS! Hey, I've been wondering: is it possible to switch between variations on a loop using (for example) the arrow keys while drumming? Or a way to fade the volume up and down for dynamic purposes? That would make for even more musicmaking!

The Laka Lounge & Resort (located in the center of Laka) great place to relax and take your girl.
The High Society Night Club and Poker Room (located near the hub in Zuni).
Both are creations by myself and have wonderful "chill out" areas. No dancing poles or sex balls. Please give them a look.

I know I'm new and all, but I've been working on a more relaxing "club" in Edgerley if you want to check it out. It's an open-air venue called "Horizon", and in addition to being a club has a nice possibility of being used for other events/shows as well.
It's almost finished, but if anyone wants to stop by, I'd be happy to have you. =)
Loki - you were there in the early set-up, you might remember it?
