...there's no broadband ^.^

Okay, so, here's my exciting story. Just after Oz Spade and I had finished a lovely conversation at my new build in Noyo, I went downstairs. I went on my iMac, and saw that I couldn't get Mail to connect to my mail server. Went upstairs, and saw that SL has disconnected me. Okay, so, I figured that my ISP was having some problems due to the snow. I went into my billiards room/exercise room, where the cable modem and main router are. Unplugged both for 30 seconds, plugged both back in, as I usually do. While in there, I noticed that the room smelled of smoke, which I thought was odd.

I went upstairs, saw the net still wasn't working, so, I called the ISP. They had me run through the unplugging/replugging steps again, and it still wasn't working. I then looked at the *front* of the router, and saw it wasn't getting any power. I also noticed that the smell was getting even worse.

I decided to take the router over to another outlet in the room, and used a different plug to plug it into the wall. Smoke started POURING out of the thing, and it smelled horrible. I yanked the plug out of the outlet, ran to the backdoor, opened it, and threw the damn thing in the snow. I told the wonderful tech support guy for the ISP that I had found the problem.

So, after a lot of hub and router switching tonight, I've got the entire house online, minus the iMac. Yay.

Talk about burning fast internet connection speeds.

Thats one heck of a story James, glad things are ok now though, that would freak me out, lol.

Heh. Smoke is the most important part of any electrical component. You let the smoke out, and it doesn't work any more.

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!
