Howdy! Well here we are, waiting for the servers to go back online this morning. Since the system is moving from one version to another, what do we as users have to do to be able to reconnect once the system is back up?
Download the 1.5.6 client? Patch up? Connect with 1.5.5 and stream the update automatically?

Yes Blake, once the grid is back up, everyone who logs in will be required to download the upgrade build.

I recommend that you uninstall Second Life first then download the new version and install it.
I have found this more reliable in the long run.

I am with Pituca on this as in the past some files are skiped over and they create "Bugs" that arent suppose to be there anyway. So just uninstall current version and clean out the directory do a defrag to clean up the lost bits and download and install the new version. 9x out of 10 this is a much cleaner approach and creates less problems for the user as a whole. The 13th date was just to test the new version when it was isolated in the Preview grid, a separate entitiy entirely. Just connect as normal and follow the screen prompts. I've never had a problem upgrading that wasn't due to some server issue that got fixed quickly. Kage Seraph... You wouldn't happen to be, oh, 50 feet tall or thereabouts, would you? (I'm just wondering if you are someone I know that has finnally been dragged into this world. )

I don't think I've ever uninstalled SL in the nine or ten months I've been using it. You can just let the download start and install over things just fine.

And I'm of pretty typical height. =) Warm regards, Kage

Depends on the size of your hard drive, the speed of your computer, the amount of stuff on it, etc. Under Windows, it's a good idea to run Disk Defragmenter about once a month, more if you install/unintall a lot of things constantly. This post reminded me that I was probably due for running Defrag, as I haven't done it since I reinstalled Windows on this box. I have about 6 GB on my main windows partition, about 60% filled, and started running it as I was typing this post. It's about 75% done now.
