I'm seriously worried about all the posts I see that are "I'm bored and at work" Does this mean you have a job where you do nothing for periods of time? And if so how on earth do you get a job like that...

There are days when I can sit here from 6pm till 10pm with absolutely nothing to do...

Then there are days when there is so much to do that I more or less don't leave my edit bay all day, put in 4 hours of overtime, come back over the weekend, and am still behind schedule.

Then again - I also get to spend a good portion of my time looking at people being scraped off the highway or dug up from shallow graves in the desert. Sometimes a body part or two turning up in a dumpster - or burnt beyond all recognition when the occasional meth lab explodes....

So I guess everything comes at a price - be careful of what you wish for.

I might grumble about my long days at $WORK whipping up product documentation, but it's far less serious. My respect to you for being able to do that, and come here and be silly.

i cant complain, i'm between two departments right now. hard to decide which one i'll ultimately stick too. if i work with service.. the perks are... some times i can go home 3 hours early, still get paid 8 hours . i dont have to pay for gas, since i live in california, thats REALLLY a perk, because gas right now is 2.35 a gallon. i can have lunch literally any where that so cal offers, so i never have to eat junk food, the work is easy. usually 20 minutes of work per job, wrapped around 2 hours of driving.

if i were to stick with engineering, i get to sit here and read useless threads about sponge monkeys and prims 2300 m in the air i also have a light load of work as well.

the trade off is that at any given time either job could spin around and dump a ton of work on me. which makes things interesting otherwise sitting doing nothing does get boring.

*pulls out a pair of daggers and dives for the sponge monkey, raving madly whilst stabbing violently*
